The 200th anniversary year of European-accessed Ajanta cave wall paintings and sculptures features only second-phase, two-level monastery caves 6 and 27 and three-level prayer-hall cave 26.

Geological faults got Ajanta (from Sanskrit अजित, "invincible") cave 4 onto higher ground and perhaps gave Ajanta caves 14, 15A/30, 22, 25 and 29 upper locations. Chaitya (from Sanskrit चैत्य, "memorial monument") prayer hall 29 and vihara (from Sanskrit विहार, "walking [hall]") monasteries 4, 14, 15A/30, 22, 25 and 29 have views. Forest, river and waterfall animals and plants never inspired Sangha (from Sanskrit संघ, "multitude") lay and monastic community members who never inhabited incomplete Ajanta cave 14.

The 200th anniversary year of Ajanta cave wall paintings and sculptures juggles stone-cut steps for itinerant artisans and monks journeying to and from Ajanta cave 14.

The 44.06- by 52.43-foot (13.43- by 19.28-meter) monastery cave knows no dormitory cells with stone-carved beds for itinerant artisans and merchants and resident and seasonal monks.

Walter M. Spink, Emeritus Professor of Art History at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor since 2000, locates major Ajanta excavations to two 20-year periods. He mentions first- and second-phase excavations respectively between 90 and 70 B.C.E., during the Satavahana dynasty, and between 460 and 480 C.E., during the Vakataka dynasty. The later two decades perhaps netted an ultimately non-priority status for Ajanta cave excavations from political rivalry between Asmaka kings and Vakataka emperors over Ajanta subkings.

Ajanta cave 14 offers the 200th anniversary year of Ajanta cave wall paintings and sculptures European-accessed since April 28, 1819, one veranda to one semi-excavated hall.

Ajanta cave 14 upper-doorway corners queue up salabhanjika (from Sanskrit शालभंजिका, "breaking a branch of a sala tree") figures in tribhanga (from Sanskrit त्रिभङ्ग, "triple-bent") poses. Necks, waists and knees bent S-like as female feet and hands reach to and against sala tree (Shorea robusta) branches and trunks recall Koliyan Queen Mahamaya. Sakyan King Suddhodhana's spouse started labor under the Lumbini Park sala, birth tree of Prince Siddhartha Gautama (from Sanskrit सिद्धार्थ, "successful" and गोतम, "brightness [dispels] darkness").
