The Breaking Point Applies to Magnum PI and Oha Koolau Range Delissea

Summary: The Breaking Point applies to season 5 episode 2 Sunday, April 9, 2023, of action drama television series Magnum PI and to Oha Koolau Range delissea.

Oahu leechleaf delissea (oha locally, Koolau Range commonly, Delissea subcordata scientifically) once abounded on the eastern shield volcano acknowledged as Koolau Range of Oahu island, Hawaii state; Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, 14:38, "View from the top of the southern/mid-section of the Koʻolau Range," eastern O'ahu: Sullynyflhi, Public Domain, via Wikimedia Commons

The Breaking Point applies to season 5 episode 2 debuted Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, rerun Sunday, April 9, 2023, of action drama television series Magnum PI and to Oha Koolau Range delissea.
Seventy-eighth episode overall and NBC television season 2022-2023’s second Magnum PI episode, by director Bryan Spicer and writer Gene Hong, broaches personal and professional breaking points. Perhaps toxic, waterlogged environments of endemic (from Greek ἐν δῆμος, “in [with its] people”) Delissea species figuratively communicate an overdosed client and a waterboarded commanding officer. The NatureServe conservation status developed by Natural Heritage Network and The Nature Conservancy in the 1980s describes oha Koolau Range delissea as critically imperiled, risking extinction.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) enters a counterpart critically endangered conservation status for the two oha leechleaf delissea species endemic to Kauai County.

Oha Koolau Range delissea (Delissea subcordata scientifically) abounds wildly only in the Waianae Mountains of western Oahu island, Hawaii state; Tuesday, Sep. 22, 2009, 11:34, image of "Delissea subcordata Campanulaceae Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands (formerly Koʻolau Mts., Oʻahu only) Presumed extinct," Bishop Museum -- The Hawaiʻi State Museum of Natural and Cultural History, Kalihi, urban Honolulu neighborhood west of downtown Honolulu and east of Mapunapuna, Moanalua and Salt Lake, southern shore of O'ahu: David Eickhoff (D.Eickhoff), CC BY 2.0 Generic, via Flickr

A Three Mountain Alliance staffer found, in March 2021 on Kamehameha Schools land, three wild examples of the Hawaii County-endemic delissea species previously featured as extinct.
Hawaii County and Oahu County (from Hawaiian ha wai ‘i, “breath life-force supreme”; o’ahu, “gathering waters”) respectively guard Delissea argutidentata and Delissea subcordata genus and species. Kauai County (from Hawaiian ka ua ‘i, “the rain supreme”?) has Delissea kauaiensis and Delissea rhytidosperma genus and species, the former hailed, until 2016, as extinct. Scientific classifications identify all four of the Hawaiian archipelago-only Delissea (from Jacques Delisse, May 13, 1773-March 13, 1856) species as leechleaf commonly and as oha locally.
The Breaking Point on Magnum PI jeopardizes Tracheophyte and Angiosperm (from Greek τρᾱχεῖᾰ φυτόν, “windpipe plant”; ἀγγεῖον σπέρμα, “receptacle seed”) clades’ oha Koolau Range delissea members.

Twelve young and 28 mature wild oha Koolau Range delissea accepted as their archipelagic homeland only the Waianae Mountains as of January 2008; Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, 09:37, image of reclining pregnant woman reminiscently shaped northern Wai'anae Range, viewed from State of Hawaii Division of State Parks' Kukaniloko Birthstones State Historical Site (State of Hawai'i Division of State Parks, 1972; Hawai'i Register of Historic Places, April 11, 1973; National Register of Historical Places, April 11, 1973 [original] and Feb. 9, 1995 [5 acre increase]): Joel Bradshaw, Public Domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Vascular- and flowering-, fruiting-plant clade membership respectively kindles soluble mineral-kineticizing xylem and nutrient- and sugar-kineticizing phloem (from Greek ξύλον, “wood”; and φλόος, “husk”) and fruit-enclosed seeds.
Eudicot and Asterid (from Greek εὖ δι- κοτυληδών, “good two cup-shaped cavity”; and ἀστήρ, “star”) clade membership logs two embryonic seed leaves and green-white, star-like flowers. Asterales order (from Greek ἀστήρ, “star” via Latin astēr; and Latin -ālis, “pertaining to”) membership means composite (from Latin compostus, “composed, compound”), little-flowered, many-flowered, multiple-headed clusters. Campanulaceae (from Latin campāna -ula -āceae, “bell little resembling”) bellflower family members number among 100-plus Hawaii-endemic lobelioids (for Matthias de Lobel [1538-March 3, 1616] Delissea subcordata.
Oha Koolau Range delissea (from Hawaiian ko’olau, “windward”) no longer occurring in its dormant, eastern, namesake shield volcano observes The Breaking Point that Magnum PI obtains.

Oha Koolau Range delissea admits a knoblet one-third downwards from its curved, 1.5- to 2.4-inch- (37- to 60-millimeter-) long flowers. Black-purple fruit and the small knob announce how delissea species appear differently, recognizably from Cyanea lobelioid species. Oha Koolau Range delissea appears differently, recognizably from the three other Hawaii-endemic delissea species (Delissea argutidentata, Delissea kauaiensis and Delisea rhytidosperma). The latter three appreciate near-straight, 0.55- to 1.02-inch- (14- to 26-millimeter-) long flowers; Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, 10:52, image of Delissea rhytidosperma of Kauaʻi, with Delissea's characteristic dorsal knob (center left): Karl Magnacca, CC BY SA 2.5 Generic, via Wikimedia Commons

United States Fish and Wildlife Service personnel, in January 2008, perceived 12 young and 28 mature Waianae Mountains (from Hawaiian wai ‘anae, “mullet water”) wild plants.
Oha Koolau Range delissea quarter palm-like, maximally 9.84-foot- (3-meter-) tall trunks around whose tops queue entire-edged, lance-shaped to near-oval, leaf blades and 0.75-inch- (1.91-centimeter-) long fruits. They reside in gulch bottoms and on north-facing gulch slopes in sunny openings or under tree canopies of mesic (moist, from Greek μέσος, “middle”), native-specied forests. Hawaiian ebony and persimmon (lama locally, Diospyros sandwicensis scientifically), eggfruit (‘āla’a, Pouteria sandwicensis), plum (‘ohi’a lehua, Metrosideros polymorpha) and wattle (koa, Acacia koa) trees shelter them.
Habitats transformed by feral goats and pigs threaten oha Koolau Range Delissea subcordata (from Latin subcordāta, “near-heart-shaped”) to The Breaking Point terminating Magnum PI professional contacts.

The double-episode airing of The Passenger and The Breaking Point for the season 5 premiere of NBC action drama television series Magnum P.I. took place Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, one day before Thomas Sullivan Magnum-portraying Jay Hernandez's 45th birthday (born Monday, Feb. 20, 1978): Fandom Of Magnum P.I. @MagmumPIFandom, via Twitter Feb. 19, 2023
