Dark Skies Are Awful for Magnum PI and During the Lanai Meteorite

Summary: Dark Skies, season 5 episode 8 Sunday, April 2, 2023, are awful for action drama television series Magnum PI and during the 19th-century Lanai meteorite.

Perhaps on a night such as this, to the northeast of the central highlands where Dole Park abides, a fireball abandoned its atmosphere abode for Pacific Ocean waters "scores of miles to the north" (Brandon Barringer. 1968. "Lanai Meteorite Crater Apparently Myth." Page 57. In: Meteoritics 4(1): 57-58.); Friday, Nov. 14, 2015, 09:49, image of "View of stars from inside of Dole Park on the island of Lana'i, in the state of Hawaii, USA, in November, 2015. Dark Skies, season 5 episode 8, 84th episode overall Sunday, April 2, 2023, are awful for action drama television series Magnum PI and during the perhaps legendary, perhaps real 19th-century Lanai meteorite.
This 80th episode becomes the second directed by Doug Hannah, first and second written respectively by Andrew Blazensky and Tera Tolentino, for NBC television season 2022-2023. Dark skies figuratively convey catastrophic, confusing, chaotic and crisis configurations that never concluded with, but continue after, Navy Captain Buck Greene (James Remar) as waterboarding casualty. Dark skies perhaps developed the 20th-century legends about Kahokunui and Kaimuhoku (from Hawaiian ka hoku nui, “the large star” and ka imu hoku, “the star oven”).
Perhaps Lanai (from Hawaiian lā na’i, “the day [of] conquest [of demons and ghosts by Maui Prince Kauluaau (from Hawaiian kauluā au, “double current”)”]”) enshrines evidence.

Daniel Barringer (May 25, 1860-Nov. 30, 1929) actualized Earth-meteoroid actions at Meteor Crater, 37 miles (60 kilometers) east of Flagstaff and 18 miles (29 kilometers) west of Winslow in the northern Arizona desert. He added the meteorite abode to scientific advances as the first person to affirm impact craters on the Earth surface. His son Brandon (June 11, 1899-Sep. 23, 1991) Barringer perhaps aimed at the reverse Jan. 31, 1967. He alerted the scientific community to the absence of circular formations and meteoritic material to allow Kaimuhoku (from Hawaiian ka imu hoku, "the star oven") as impact or suspected-impact crater; undated image of Daniel Barringer: Public Domain, via Wikimedia Commons

The United States Geological Survey Bulletin 1220 fashions, from 110 impact and suspected-impact craters, Category 6 “Structures for which more data are required for classification” (Barrington:57).
Kenneth Pike Emory’s (Nov. 23, 1897-Jan. 2, 1992) 1924-published gleanings guided the United States Geological Survey Bulletin’s guarding “Ka-imu-hoku, Hawaii” (Barrington:57) among its Category 6 grouping. John Davis Buddhue’s (Dec. 27, 1910-Dec. 20, 1971) and Jacquelyn Hester Freeberg’s (Aug. 9, 1923-Sep. 5, 2007) respective 1947-published article and 1966-published terrestrial-impact bibliography likewise helped. Emory information included Kahokunui and Kaimuhoku from 100-some identifications by blind, 70-plus-year-old Mrs. Awila Shaw of Lahaina, Maui (from Hawaiian lā hainā, “sun cruel”; mauī, “left-side”?).
Dark Skies jar personal and professional journeys on Magnum PI even as they jeopardize judicious judgments about the atmospheric journey of the Lanai meteorite perhaps Pacific-wards.

Wallace (Sep. 13, 1920-July 20, 1983) and Ethel (March 26, 1923-Feb. 10, 2014) Au of the Lanai Inn knew Susumu Nishimura (July 4, 1904-May 16, 1985).
Nishimura located from Lahaina, Maui, to live in Keomoku, Koele and Lanai City, Lanai, where he learned about local lore from blind native lay preacher Alika. Neither mentioned “a meteor fell nearby” (Barrington:58) Kahokunui or Kaimuhoku, “place where the meteor fell” and “a pit in the sand where a meteor fell” (Barrington:57). The Emory map niches Kaimuhoku and Kahokunui, respectively 500 and 200 yards (457.2 and 182.9 meters) west of Maunalei gorge stream delta, on a northeastern-shore beach.
Dark Skies obstruct Magnum PI operations, but oblige Brandon (June 11, 1899-Sep. 23, 1991) and Diana (Jan. 18, 1914-Aug. 9, 2015) Barringer obtaining Lanai meteorite information.

Perhaps an interstellar object anonymously anticipated Oumuamua (first distant messenger, from Hawaiian ‘ou mua, “reach out for in advance of”). Perhaps a break-away piece appeared to 19th-century Lanaians as a fireball meteor. Perhaps its atmospheric approach arranged itself misleadingly in the dark skies. Perhaps its demise arrived beneath north Pacific Ocean waters rather than on a northeast-shore beach; December 2017 UploadWizard-created, MSPaint-labeled, JPL Horizons System data-derived graphic of "Oumuamua hyperbolic trajectory across full solar system, with annual markers, and planet positions on 1/1/2018," first known interstellar visitor to solar system, discovered Oct. 19, 2017, via University of Hawai'i's Pan-STARRS1 telescope, Haleakalā Observatory, East Maui County: Tom Ruen (Tomruen), CC BY SA 4.0 International, via Wikimedia Commons

The 1923 Geological Survey Map, Harold Thornton Stearns’ (Aug. 25, 1900-July 28, 1986) 1936 Geologic and Topographic Map and a 1967 road map presented only Kahokunui.
The beach quartered, 500 yards (457.2 meters) east of Halulu Gorge Mouth dirt road, a Geodetic Survey marker for Kahokunui but no Kaimuhoku circular, impact-crater formation. A flyby in a Royal Hawaiian Air Service single-engine Cessna and drive-by Jan. 31, 1967, revealed no Kaimuhoku “meteoric material or any sign of impact” (Barrington:58). Chester Keeler Wentworth’s (May 7, 1891-Jan. 6, 1969) 1925-published Geology of Lanai sighting no Kaimuhoku and 1967 Barringer searches suggest as “large star” a “fireball” (Barringer:58).
Dark Skies threaten Magnum PI even as they trick Lanaians into thinking of beach-tombed meteorites, not meteors terminating in transit or under north Pacific Ocean waters.
