Hawaiian Flags Never Anticipated NCIS Hawai'i Episode About Rising Sun

Summary: Hawaiian flags, native or official state, never anticipated NCIS Hawai’i police procedural television series episode Rising Sun Monday, January 16, 2023.

Hawaiian flags, whether native or official state with their respective English- and Hawaiian-speaking cultural accommodations, never anticipated the NCIS Hawai’i police procedural television series episode about Rising Sun Monday, January 16, 2023.
The 33rd episode overall, as the 11th episode in the second season, benefits from writing by Megan Bacharach and Matt Bosack and directing by Christoph Schrewe. It concerns the crime families that compose contemporary Japanese culture in the Hawaiian archipelago, whose past culls ancient Polynesian and 245- to perhaps 500-year-long European contributions. The crime families perhaps dwell predominantly on the most populated and the third-largest Hawaiian island, Oahu (from Hawaiian O’ahu, “the gathering place”), since the 20th century.
Hawaiian native and Hawaiian official state flags respectively enshrine Hawaiian and Polynesian maritime experiences northeastward and southward and American and British maritime experiences emphasizing Hawaiian islands.

Gene Simeona of Honolulu, Oahu County, Hawaii (from Hawaiian ha, “life-breath”; wai, “life-force”; ‘i, “supreme”) fashioned in 2001 Kanaka Maoli (from Hawaiian kānaka, “people”; maoli, “indigenous”).
Chris Bailey, in What’s the Story Behind Hawaii’s Flag?” for Hawai’i Magazine Oct. 21, 2008, gauged Kanaka Maoli by Gene Simeona as the Kamehameha personal flag. King Kamehameha (from Hawaiian ka, “the” and mehameha, “lonely man”) III (March 17, 1814-Dec. 15, 1854) had a personal flag, perhaps for enthronement June 6, 1825. He included that personal flag in his island itineraries until British Royal Navy Captain Lord George Paulet (Aug. 12, 1803-Nov. 22, 1879) inhibited its installation everywhere.
Ancient Hawaiian and Polynesian and 18th- and 19th-century American, British and Hawaiian junctures journeyed into Hawaiian flags that 19th-century Rising Sun and Hawaiian junctures never joined.

Hawai'i's motto, Ua mau ke ea o ka ʻāina i ka pono ("The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness"), appears on the Royal Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Hawaii, adopted in 1845 during the reign (June 6, 1825-Dec. 15, 1854) of Kamehameha III (March 17, 1814-Dec. 15, 1854), the kingdom's third king: Sodacan, CC BY SA 3.0 Unported, via Wikimedia Commons

Fiftieth-state status Aug. 21, 1959, in the United States of America kindled official state emblems and symbols such as the official state flag Dec. 29, 1845.
The Hawaiian official state flag lodges white, red, blue, white, red, blue, white, red stripes rightward and downward from a white-and-red cross, white-and-red diagonals on blue. The Simenoa native Hawaiian flag memorializes the Hawaiian royal standard with the green shield that the Hawaiian kingdom's royal coat of arms maintains on its shield. The green shield nestles a grail-like kahili (from Hawaiian kāhili, “feather”) between two paddles, thereby respectively noting the Hawaiian royal iconry and the Hawaiian voyaging past.
Red occurs on both Hawaiian flags and on the Rising Sun flag even as only the official Hawaiian and the Japanese Rising Sun flags offer white.

Royal Navy Captain George Paulet (Aug. 12, 1803-Nov. 22, 1879) replaced the Hawaiian Flag with the British Union Flag during his Feb. 25 to July 31, 1843, occupation; undated Hawaiʻi State Archives photo of Lord George Paulet: Public Domain, via Wikimedia Commons

The Simeona native Hawaiian flag places yellow, red, green, yellow, red, green, yellow, red, green stripes consecutively on the other side leftward of the green shield.
Three-colored stripes quarter symbolically in yellow the ali’i power-holding royal class; in red the konohiki landed caste serving the ali’i; and in green the makaainana commoners. No pattern, no symbol repeats from native and state Hawaiian flags onto the Rising Sun Japanese flag or vice versa even as all three relish red. The Japanese archipelago, on the western horizon and the western Pacific Ocean rim from Hawaiian islands suggests the Rising Sun only to peoples west of Japan.
Red-striped Hawaiian flags transmit American and European transactions, not Japanese transactions between Japanese islands of the Setting Sun west of Hawaiian islands of the Rising Sun.

A crimson red circle centers the rectangular white banner of the Flag of Japan (日章旗, Nisshōki, "flag of the sun"); the sun's rising in the east and Japan's lying west of the Hawaiian islands disqualify Japan as the Land of the Rising Sun for Hawai'i: Public Domain, via Wikimedia Commons

They open mostly at the extremities of slender calcareous processes. The only specimen seen by the author, was procured at the Sandwich Islands; but it may have been brought by shipping from some other locality. It is five inches high and eight broad, with the stem at base half an inch thick. The crust still remains dried on the axis and the right rays of the closed polyps may be easily distinguished."
