The Metropolitan Opera held the second revival of Australian opera director Elijah Moshinsky's 2000-2001 new staging of Giuseppe Verdi's Nabucco in the 2003-2004 season, as an immediate successor of the first revival's occurrence in the 2002-2003 season.
Elijah Moshinsky (Jan. 8, 1946-Jan. 14, 2021) debuted his new production of Nabucco by 19th-century Italian opera composer Giuseppe Verdi (Oct. 10, 1813-Jan. 27, 1901) on Thursday, March 8, 2001, as the first of nine debut performances. The Australian opera director had made his Met Opera debut Monday, Feb. 4, 1980, in the opera company's 153rd performance of Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera.
After an interlude of one season, Moshinsky's new production received its first revival in the 2002-2003 season. The first revival comprised six performances.
The second revival succeeded the first revival, with 10 performances scheduled in the 2003-2004 season. The first through closing, 10th performances were held Monday, April 5, 2004; Saturday, April 10; Wednesday, April 14; Saturday, April 17; Tuesday, April 20; Friday, April 23; Tuesday, June 15; Friday, June 18; Wednesday, June 23; and Saturday, June 26.
