The world-biggest island bases northern Greenland between the Arctic Circle and the North Pole and beyond the tree line even as south Greenland bears Atlantic Ocean-ward. Its climate configures Arctic chill and Arctic thaw even as the 10th through the mid-14th centuries, from the 900s through the mid-1300s, constituted the next-recentest thaw. Medieval-warming duration drew Icelandic and Norwegian Vikings ("cove-/fjord-/inlet-frequenter"; Old Norse vík -ingr) across the North Atlantic and the Norwegian Sea to the green-and-white, North-American island Greenland.

The thousand years between 2500 and 1500 B.C. entailed North-American natives entering coastal Greenland even as not one episode of four explorer-effected efforts established anything enduring.

A fifth, final flux fit Russian Far-East Siberians figuring futurely among Greenlander Inuits "the-people"; Inuktitut [ᐃᓄᒃᑎᑐᑦ, "like-the-Inuit"] ᐃᓄᐃᑦ), into coastal-west Greenland from the year 1200 onward.

Icelandic and Norwegian Vikings and their Greenlander-Viking generations guarded ancestor-guided farming and livestock-raising even as Greenlander Inuits gathered their drinkables, edibles, wearables, workables from wild Greenland. Arctic thaw heralded Arctic chill even as the Little Ice Age happened from the mid-1300s into the early 1900s, the first date harbingering Norse-Greenlander Western-Settlement hindrances. Danish Literary Expedition years 1902-1904 member Rasmussen moved from the 25- (-20) to -4-degrees-Fahrenheit (-30-degrees-Celsius) southern-Greenland temperatures into the -4 (-20) to -22-degrees-Fahrenheit (-30-degrees-Celsius) northern-Greenland temperatures. First Thule Expedition (Tue., Apr 16-Sep. 1912) member Rasmussen negotiated the Greenland-interior ice cap nestled between coastal-northwest Tasiusaq, Upernavik, Thule and coastal-northeast Peary Land's Independence Fjord.
