Manhattan and San Diego Account For Why With This Puzzle, I Thee Kill

Summary: Manhattan and San Diego access to Bakerhaven account for why With This Puzzle, I Thee Kill, 5th mystery in the Puzzle Lady series authored by Parnell Hall.

Raymond Harstein III absents himself from digital and traditional searches. Bakerhaven Gazette's managing editor allows reporter Aaron Grant to access the former's acquaintance, reporter Hines, at the San Diego Union. The latter newspaper assumed the name San Diego Union-Tribune as of the merger Feb. 2, 1992, of the San Diego Union, founded Oct. 10, 1868, and of the San Diego Evening Tribune, founded Dec. 2, 1895; Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, 16:42, image of San Diego Union-Tribune Building, 600 B Street, San Diego CA: Tilthouse, CC BY SA 4.0 International, via Wikimedia Commons

Manhattan and San Diego access to Bakerhaven account for why With This Puzzle, I Thee Kill, 5th mystery in the Puzzle Lady series authored by Parnell Hall (Oct. 31, 1934-Dec. 15, 2020).
A red Toyota bears Manhattan-born and bred number puzzle lady Cora Felton and her niece Sherry Carter from backwater Bakerhaven to New York City’s Fifth Avenue. Cora chooses a New York City seamstress for her lace, satin, silk confection so that no Bakerhavenite chances upon her wedding dress before the August ceremony. Razor, Tune Freaks lead rock guitarist, discerns lead singer Dennis Pride’s ex-wife Sherry in the bridal shop and drives from Manhattan to Bakerhaven for May-June dwellings.
Dennis enters Country Kitchen with fiancée Brenda Wallenstein envisaging Saturday, June 12, at Manhattan’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral and exits enthusing over a Bakerhaven Congregational double wedding.

Raymond Harstein III fancies Cora with an engagement ring, Sherry as maid of honor and the three feasting at Country Kitchen favor a fast-tracked double wedding.
Brenda, as Mount Sinai Hospital nurse, and Dennis, as Wallenstein Textiles salesman, go from Ramsey bed and breakfast (B&B) to the green-shuttered, three-story, white-frame Trumble B&B. Piper Street has Raymond’s rental house alongside Jack and Daffodil Dirkson’s rented home and opposite Trumble B&B, three blocks from Cushman’s Bake Shop opposite Bakerhaven Library. Three-block itineraries from Piper Street to downtown Bakertown therefore include Bakerhaven Gazette toward one side, and Bakerhaven Police Station toward the other side, of Cushman bakery.
Norman and Wendy Wallenstein, as Brenda’s parents, journey from Manhattan to Bakerhaven even as Raymond journeyed from San Diego in With This Puzzle, I Thee Kill.

Small-town Bakerhaven kindles neither bus service nor taxi cabs, neither hotel chains nor takeout eateries, even as it keeps a Formica-countered, glare-lighted diner past town limits.
Iris Cooper, Lois Greely and Judy Douglas Knauer respectively leave Bakerhaven town hall, Greely general store near the covered bridge and Knauer Realty for Country Kitchen. They meet Amy Cox, as Cushman customer and as wife of an insurance company manager in Hartford, Connecticut, for the engagement dinner with Cora, without Sherry. Kemper Realty nudged Cora and Sherry toward their rental even as Judy negotiated the Trumble B&B for Dennis and perhaps the same-street Dirkson and Harstein rentals.
What occasions Raymond, as opulent hotel owner from San Diego opting for honeymooning in France, occupying an ordinary one-level in With This Puzzle, I Thee Kill?

And yet Bakerhaven Police Chief Dale Harper plans to perform Saturday as prominent person pacing Cora down the Congregational Church aisle to Raymond and Reverend Kimble.
Bakerhaven Congregational Church and Piper Street perhaps no longer qualify as Bakerhaven quarters for questing quintessential quaintness and quietness once two quarrels queue two murder victims. Raging messages revealed in anonymous, cryptic letters ruin one romantic engagement and two wedding rehearsals somewhat less than one chest-stabbing casualty and then one back-stabbing fatality. They send Jack to Bakerhaven Memorial Hospital, one suspect to one of four cells and one interrogation room and two stabbings with autopsist Dr. Barney Nathan.
With This Puzzle, I Thee Kill troubles three travelers from San Diego far more than two troublemakers from Manhattan, one with a 74 Spring Street address.

Dennis Pride achieves a May engagement and a June wedding with Brenda Wallenstein, acquaintance of his first wife, Sherry Carter, and daughter of wealthy textiles industrialist Norman Wallenstein and his wife Wendy. He therefore acquires an appealing address, at 74 Spring Street, not far from the acclaimed Balthazar restaurant, at 80 Spring Street; Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, 13:27: Ralph Daily (ralph and jenny), CC BY 2.0 Generic, via Wikimedia Commons
