Barking Sands Beach on western, wild, windward Kauai and Magnum's No Way Out crime action drama television series episode Dec. 18, 2020, in the federal building sometimes are under natural, armed attack.
Director Eagle Egilsson and writer Barbie Kligman batter the federal building with armed belligerents, just as bellicose waters and weather besiege Barking Sands Beach and beachcombers. Season Three's third episode, the series' 43rd episode overall, concerns combative conduct and contentious conversations, just as clashing particles on Barking Sands Beach convey canine communication. The Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalaniana'ole Federal Building and United States Courthouse displays the abstract, open-air sculpture Barking Sands by Peter Voulkos (Jan. 29, 1924-Feb. 16, 2002).
The 6- by 5- by 25-foot (1.83- by 1.52- by 7.62-meter) hammered, welded, patinated bronze sculpture expresses the Greek-American Abstract Expressionist painter and sculptor's wartime experiences.

The future artist fought in World War II (Sept. 1, 1939-Sept. 2, 1945) as draftee in 1943 and United States Army Air Force pilot by 1944.
The subsequent Otis Art Institute ceramics chair at Los Angeles (1954-1959) and University of California, Berkeley, design and sculpture professor (1959-1985) guarded Barking Sands Beach areas. Barking Sands Beach has to head up high on world lists of how to hone a happily horrifying, horrifyingly happy Halloween amid semi-harmful, semi-harmless natural beauty. Itinerating over the fine golden particles of the 300-foot- (91.44-meter-) wide, 12-plus-mile- (19.31-kilometer-) long beach, from Kekaha to Polihale State Park, initiates dog-like barking, woofing sounds.
Noisy journeys join Barking Sands Beach of Kauai (from Hawaiian Kaua'i, "favorite place around one's neck") to barking sands beaches of Kaluakahua, Niihau, and Ohikilolo, Oahu.

Perhaps forceful pressure from heavy footsteps and wild nature kindle barking-like, woofing-like reverberations in hollow-grained sand particles with microscopic holes and perforations and tiny echo chambers.
John Clark, in Hawai'i Place Names: Shores, Beaches, and Surf Sites, for the University of Hawaii Press, lists under barking sands singing sands as synonymous labels. He matches the Barking Sands Beach of western Kauai with the Hawaiian moniker Keonekani o Nohili, from the Hawaiian for the sounding sounds of Nohili Point. Barking sands beaches at Nohili Point, Kauai; Kaluakahua, Niihau; and 'Ōhikilolo, Oahu (from Hawaiian 'ōhikilolo, "prying out brains" and O'ahu, "gathering place") net noticeable sand dunes.
Barking Sands Beach offers 100-foot- (30.48-meter-) high sand dunes, approximate heights of the 10-story Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalaniana'ole Federal Building and the 10-story Hawaiian State Capitol.

Magnum's No Way Out presents Honolulu (from Hawaiian hono, "sheltered" and lulu, "bay") federal government bureaucratic presences, paralleled albeit militarily on Kauai near Barking Sands Beach.
The federal government qualifies as owner of Honolulu's federal building and of Kauai's Pacific Missile Range Facility on a 7-mile (30.48-kilometer) stretch near Barking Sands Beach. The world-largest missile testing and training facility sometimes restricts non-resident and resident rights to sole, dirt-road, beach access from Highway 50, without No Way Out-like results. Armed attacks seem unlikelier on Barking Sands Beach than snorkelers, surfers and swimmers swept away by rip currents and steep-dropping seafloors and vehicles stuck in sand.
No tourists trampling and trashing sand dunes, no terrifying tides and torrents threatened Barking Sands Beach yesternight when Magnum's No Way Out trembled under armed attack.
