Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo (from Hawaiian ka lupe a kawelo, “the kite of Kawelo [from ka welo, “the family trait”]”) brightens ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center and all Hawaii. ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center considers evening competitors such as the asterism Makalii and the planets Hokuloa, Kaawela and Makulu and early-morning constellations such as Makalii bailer Kekaomakalii. Darkened-sky denizens dazzle by 8:00 p.m. Hawaii-Aleutian (4:00 Chamorro, 7:00 Samoa, 10:00 Alaska, 11:00 Pacific, midnight Mountain, 1:00 next-day Central, 2:00 Eastern, 2:00 Atlantic) Time onward.

Evening-sky embellishments enlighten ‘Imiloa center of Hilo, Hawaii County, island, state (from Hawaiian ‘imi loa, “to search far”; hilo, “thread”; ha wai ‘i, “breath life-force supreme”).

Kawelo’s kite Kalupeakawelo fits, south of ‘Ākau horizon’s Hokupaa, Koolau- and Hoolua-facing (from Hawaiian ‘ākua, “north”; hōkū pā, "star-fence"; ko’olau, “north[east]”; ho’olua, “north[west]”) Iwakelii and Kamoi.

Iwakelii and Kamoi group north of Hikina- and Komohana-ward (from Hawaiian ‘iwa ali’i, “frigatebird chief”; ka mō’ī, “the king”; hikina, “east”; komo, “west”) Manokalanipo and Kakuhihewa. Piikea, Kaikilani, Kalanikauleleaiwi (from Hawaiian pi’i kea, “becoming [day]light”; ka iki lani, “the little chief[ess]”; ka lani kaulele a iwi, “the chief’s altar’s bones”) keep eastward.

Westerly Hema-ward kite strings, located near Saturn (Hawaiianized Makulu), lodge Kukaniloko and Nalani (from Hawaiian kū kani loko, “to anchor sound within”; nā lani, “the heavens”). Aldebaran (ka puahi, “the fireplace”); Altair (humu, “fishhook-hole”), Deneb (pira’etea, “white sea-swallow”), Vega (keoe, “sweet-potato”); Auriga (hōkū lei, “star-wreath”); Pleiades (maka li’i, “eyes little”) manifest nightly. Makalii bailer Kekaomakalii presents early mornings easterly Auriga, Castor, Pollux, Procyon and Sirius (nānā mua, “star first”; nānā hope, “star last”; puana, “blossom”; ‘a’ā, “bright burning”).

Kawelo’s kite Kalupeakawelo, like Makalii bailer Kekaomakalii, quarters stars that quantify among quintessential queues of what mainland Unitedstatesians qualify for their evening, night and early-morning quests. Iwakelii, Kalanikauleleaiwi, Kamoi, Kukaniloko and Piikea respectively represent Cassiopeia, Archenar, Cepheus, Formalhaut, Diphda and Kakuhihewa, Keawe, Manokalanipo and Piilani Great-Square stars Scheat, Markab, Alpheratz and Algenib. Humu, Keoe and Piraetea respectively serve as the Navigator’s Triangle and the summer triangle stars Altair, Deneb and Vega even as Hokupaa suggests the North Star.
