Tenth-season fourth-episode Five-0 director Peter Weller and writer Zoe Robyn broach the 'ōlelo ao ("proverb") "Tiny is the flower, yet it scents the grasses around it." Hawaii Five-0 series' 222nd episode overall channels Aaron Wright's (Joey Lawrence) computer hacking capabilities into a dead kidnapper and a kidnapped girl who is someone else. Magnum PI's second-season fourth-episode director Krishna Rao and writer Barbie Kligman, like the series' first-season fourth-episode director Antonio Negret and writer Ashley Gable, dissect intraorganizational duplicity.

Season One's fourth episode and the series' 24th episode overall respectively expose a corrupt officer with stolen evidence and a corrupt employee with six stolen paintings.

Leafing, flowering, fruiting, seeding molassesgrass fills the surrounding air, land and water with foul odors from its grass blades and with nothing from its fragile flowers.

The central African native germinates from grain-like seeds and grows from ground-level, stem-base meristems (from Greek μέρος, "part"); and rootable stem-like above-ground stolons and below-ground rhizomes. It has 0.035- to 0.047-inch- (0.9- to 1.2-millimeter-) long, 0.012- to 0.016-inch- (0.3- to 0.4-millimeter-) wide fruits, amid red-tinged green-white foliage before flowers pink-purpling into orange. It includes 0.06- to 0.09-inch- (1.5- to 2.4-millimeter-) long spikelets and 0.39- to 3.74-inch- (10- to 95-millimeter-) wide panicles (from Latin pānicula, "bobbin threadlet, millet earlet").

Molassesgrass jars human senses with molasses-like stench of maple-scented cockroach traps that slight breezes jostle from hairy, sticky 1.37- to 9.8-inch- (3.5- to 25-centimeter-) long leaves.

Molassesgrass, known scientifically as Melinis minutiflora (from Latin melinīs, "pertaining to honey"; minūtīs, "small"; and flōs, "flower"), keeps 19.69- to 59.06-inch- (50- to 150-centimeter-) tall stems.

Molassesgrass links into 3.94- to 4.92-foot- (1.2- to 1.5-meter-) deep mats against native tanglehead (pili, Heteropogon contortus) and variable lovegrass (kāwelu, Eragrostis variabilis) everywhere but Ni'ihau. It manages perennial life cycles alongside native acacia (koa, Acacia koa), Hawaiian ebony and Hawaiian persimmon (lama, Diospyros sandwicensis) and Hawaiian goosefoot ('āweoweo, Chenopodium oahuense) shrubs. Molassesgrass, named scientifically by Ambroise Marie Françoise Joseph Palisot de Beauvois (July 27, 1752-Jan. 21, 1820), nestles near native Hawaiian hopseed ('a'ali'i, Dodonaea viscosa) shrub niches.

Molassesgrass occurs alongside native Hawaiian olive (olopua, Nestegis sandwicensis), Mauna Loa beggartick (ko'oko'olau, Bidens menziesii, myrtle ('ōhi'a, Metrosideros polymorphia) and Oahu riverhemp ('ohai, Sesbania tomentosa) shrubs.

The Poaceae (from Greek πόα, "fodder" and Latin -āceae, "resembling") family member persists alongside such non-natives as fountain (Pennisetum setaceum) and Natal redtop (Melinis repens) grasses.

Molassesgrass queues up in disturbed, level to gentle-sloped, rocky open lands and in dry to moderately dry coastal, lowland forests, grasslands and shrublands and forest edges. It requires clayey or sandy, frost-protected, low-fertility, non-saline, semi-shaded to sunny, well-drained soil pHs between 4.6 and 8.4 up through 8,202.1-foot (2,500-meter) altitudes above sea level. It survives annual temperature ranges between 64.94 and 79.88 degrees Fahrenheit (18.3 and 26.6 degrees Celsius) and annual 25.19- to 109.45-inch (640- to 2,780-millimeter) precipitation ranges.
