Ajanta cave 22 apprises the 200th anniversary year of Ajanta cave wall paintings and sculptures, European-accessed since April 28, 1819, in central-west India of seven earthly Manushi Buddhas and of the eighth.

Ajanta cave wall paintings in Ajanta cave 22, like sculptures in cave 20, bear seven Manushi (from Sanskrit मनुषी, "feminine, humane") Buddhas (from Sanskrit बुद्ध, "awakened"). Theravada (from Sanskrit स्थविरवाद, "doctrine of elders") Buddhists cull the 998th through 1,000th Buddhas from the vyuhakalpa (glorious aeon, from Sanskrit व्यूह, "formation" and कल्प, "world-period"). They describe as the fourth through seventh Manushi Buddhas the first through fifth Buddhas of the bhadrakalpa (auspicious aeon, from Sanskrit भद्र, "blessed" and कल्प, "world-period").

Ajanta cave wall paintings in Ajanta cave 22 in north-central Maharashtra state expose Maitreya (from Sanskrit मैत्रेय, "benevolent") as the fifth bhadrakalpa and eighth Manushi Buddha.

Ajanta cave 20 features seven Manushi Buddhas with their attendants, such as Gautama (from Sanskrit गोतम, "light [dispels] darkness") Buddha's cousin Ananda (from Sanskrit आनन्द, "joy").

Ajanta cave 22 paintings give the seven Manushi Buddhas and, 4,500 years after the seventh, the eighth with each of their names and trees of enlightenment. Theravada Buddhism traditionally has 998th vyuhakalpa and first Manushi Buddha Vipassi and third bhadrakalpa and sixth Manushi Buddha Kassappa harvesting self-enlightenment under bodhi trees (Ficus religiosa). It identifies 999th vyuhakalpa and second Manushi Buddha Sikhi and 1,000th vyuhakalpa and third Manushi Buddha Vessabhu under pundarika (Mangifera indica) and sala (Shorea robusta) trees.

Ajanta cave 20 sculptures juggle Chunda's mango grove for Gautama Buddha's last mushrooms and one Lumbini and two Hirannavati River sala trees for birth- and death-places.

Sirisa (Albizia lebbeck) and udumbara (Ficus racemosa) trees kindle self-enlightenment in first bhadrakalpa and fourth Manushi Buddha Kakusandha and second bhadrakalpa and fifth Manushi Buddha Kanakamuni.

Enlightenment-seeking 35-year-old Sakyan Crown Prince Siddhartha (from Sanskrit सिद्धार्थ, "successful") Gautama locates under a bodhi tree for self-enlightenment and leaves seven days later as Gautama Buddha. Ajanta cave 22 manifests Maitreya, fifth bhadrakalpa and eighth Manushi Buddha in 4500 C.E., for the 200th anniversary year of Ajanta cave wall paintings and sculptures. Ajanta cave wall paintings and sculptures net the moniker (from Sanskrit अजित, "invincible") for Ketumati-born Maitreya, chaplain Subrahma's and Brahmavati's child, Candamukhi's wife and Brahmavaddhana's parent.

Ajanta cave 22 offers the 200th anniversary year of Ajanta cave wall paintings and sculptures Maitreya, who obtains self-enlightenment under a cobra's safron (Mesua ferrea) tree.

The 41.73- by 37.99-foot (12.72- by 11.58-meter) vihara (from Sanskrit विहार, "walking [hall]") possesses one collapsed, narrow veranda, one pillarless hall, one shrine and four cells.

Ajanta monastery cave 22 pilaster (from Latin pila, "column" and -aster, "hidden") inscriptions quote "great" upasaka (from Sanskrit उपासक, "lay devotee") family member Jayata's "meritorious gift." Mass-enlightenment results from realizing "the merit of this [mandapa, from Sanskrit मण्डप, "pavilion"] be for excellent knowledge of all sentient beings, beginning with father and mother." Collapsed veranda, high-level siting and platform foundation suggest an Ajanta cave 22 as geologically stressed as high-sited Ajanta caves 4, 14, 15A/30, 22, 25 and 29.
