First-appearing first-quarter, second-appearing full and third-appearing last-quarter moon phases alighten sun-set, moon-risen skies above University Park for Science and Technology at University of Hawaii at Hilo, Big Island, Hawaii County and state.

Pepeluali (“February” Hawaiianized) 2025 begins with the moon-phase transition-ending days Saturday, February 1 through Monday, February 3 from the new-moon lunar phase Wednesday, January 29, 2025. The lunar phase mahina hapalua mua (from Hawaiian mahina hapa lua mua, “moon half double first”) commences as the first-quarter moon phase Tuesday, February 4, 2025. It delivers left-darkened, right-dazzled moon-surface sides to such Northern-Hemisphere domiciles as Hilo, Hawaii County and state (from Hawaiian hilo, “thread”; ha wai ‘i, “breath life-force supreme”).

The first-quarter lunar phase enchants through Tuesday, February 11, after which mahina o hoku, mahina piha, mahina poepoe (“moon of star”; “moon full”; “moon round”) enlightens.

Tuesday the 4th through Tuesday the 11th feature respectively cloudy-sunny, cloudy, cloudy-rainy-sunny, cloudy-sunny, four-days-straight cloudy-rainy-sunny daytime skies followed perhaps by evening-, night- and early morning-overcast skies.

Wednesday the 12th through Wednesday the 19th guard as the full-moon phase mahina o hoku, mahina piha, mahina poepoe (“moon of star”; “moon full”; “moon round”). The afore-held dates herald two-days-straight cloudy-rainy-sunny, sunny, two-days-straight cloudy-rainy-sunny, sunny, cloudy-sunny, sunny daytime skies perhaps harvesting three clear-skied post-dusk evenings and nights and early pre-dawn mornings. Thursday the 20th through Wednesday the 26th invoke as the last-quarter moon phase mahina hapalua hope (from Hawaiian mahina hapa lua hope, “moon half double last”).

The Hilo area of Big Island, Hawaii County, Hawaii state jubilates in February 2025 lunar phases that journey through moon-risen until moon-set, sunset until sun-risen skies.

February 20th through February 26th kindle cloudy-sunny, cloudy-rainy, cloudy-rainy-sunny and four-days-straight cloudy-sunny daytime skies even as perhaps seven post-dusk evenings, nights, pre-dawn mornings know overcast skies.

Post-dusk evenings and nights, pre-dawn mornings perhaps look most lighted by the February moon after sunset and moon-rise, before moon-set and sunrise February 14, 17, 19. The afore-mentioned dates manifest respective temperatures of 81, 77 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit (27.2222, 25, 26.1111 degrees Celsius) daily, 70 (21.1111), 70 (21.1111), 68 (20) nightly. February 2025 nestles its last Thursday and Friday into post-dusk evenings and nights, pre-dawn mornings of new moon-phased mahina hou (from Hawaiian mahina hou, “month fresh/new/recent”).

Moon phases offer as their end-month occurrence a two-day new-moon lunar phase in moon-risen skies of February 2025 over Hilo, Big Island, Hawaii County and state.

Thursday the 27th presents cloudy-rainy-sunny-skied daytime temperatures of 79 degrees Fahrenheit (26.1111 degrees Celsius) even as cloudy-rainy-sunny daytime skies prevail, as end-of-month day, Friday the 28th.

Friday the 28th quarters daytime, overcast-skied temperatures quantifiable at 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius) and dark-sky, overcast-skied temperatures of 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius). The new-moon phase reaps as next-month runover cloudy-rainy-sunny Saturday, March 1, Sunday the 2nd, Tuesday the 4th and cloudy-sunny Monday the 3rd and Wednesday the 5th.
