Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo Alightens ‘Imiloa December 2024 Sky Watch

Summary: Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo, whose allusion to Kauai Island’s acclaimed, ancient, athletic chief, hero, kitist, alightens ‘Imiloa December 2024 Sky Watch.

"God talks to human beings through many vectors: through each other, through organized religion, through the great books of those religions, through wise people, through art and music and literature and poetry, but nowhere with such detail and grace and color and joy as through creation. When we destroy a species, when we destroy a special place, we're diminishing our capacity to sense the divine, understand who God is and what our own potential is." Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., April 19, 2023, Boston Park Plaza Hotel, Back Bay, Boston, Massachusetts.

“And there’s many people out there who want us to move to the next planet already and I’m like, hang on, let’s not give up on this planet yet," William, Prince of Wales, July 31, 2023, Sorted Food food truck, London, England, United Kingdom.

Late 17th-century, early 18th-century rulers of Oahu island afforded Kawelo a Maihunalii, as kite-flying hero and as cousinly relative of traditional rulers of Kauai island, a shoreline heiau (from Hawaiian heiau, “temple”) about the Kamaile area. Kawelo perhaps approached, adolescently as Kauai native-born and adultly as Kauai alii nui (from Hawaiian ali’i nui, “supreme monarch”), the Wailua Complex of Heiaus of the 12th century onward; Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, 14:24, image of National Historic Landmark (NHL) also on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), "Pōhaku Hoʻohānau (birthing stone) and Pōhaku Piko (umbilical stone), Holoholokū Heiau complex -- heiau located at Wailua River State Park, on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.": Joel Bradshaw, Public Domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo, whose allusion to Kauai Island’s acclaimed, ancient, athletic chief, hero, kitist Kawelo a Maihunalii, alightens the cluster-, constellation-, galaxy-, meteor shower-, moon-, planet-, star-alightened ‘Imiloa December 2024 Sky Watch.
Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo (from Hawaiian ka lupe a kawelo, “the kite of Kawelo [from ka welo, “the family trait]”) brightens Hawaiian evenings and nights all month. Its configuration commences from 8:00 p.m. Hawaii-Aleutian (4:00 Chamorro, 7:00 Samoa, 10:00 Alaska, 11:00 Pacific, midnight Mountain, 1:00 next-day Central, 2:00 Eastern, 2:00 Atlantic) Time onward. ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hilo, Hawaii County (from Hawaiian ‘imi loa, “to search far”; hilo, “thread”; ha wai ‘i, “breath life-force supreme”) designates other dark-sky dazzlers.
Southeastern-ensconced Hanaiakamalama and eastern-ensconced Hokuloa (Southern Cross Hawaiianized hānai a ka malama, “cared for by [the] moon”; Venus Hawaiianized hōkū loa, “star long”) embellish pre-dawn skies.

Northern-ensconced Hokupaa, Iwakelii and Kamoi (North Star Hawaiianized hōkū pa’a, “star immovable”; Cassiopeia Hawaiianized ‘iwa ali’i, “frigatebird chief”; kā mō’ī, “the king”) fashion, festoon, frame evenings.
Navigator’s Triangle stars Altair, Deneb, Vega (Hawaiianized māna ia ka lani, “hook fish the chief[’s]”; humu, “fishhook-hole”; pira’etea, “white sea-swallow”; keoe, “sweet-potato”) gleam, glitter, glow westerly. Aldebaran, Auriga, Orion, Pleiades (Hawaiianized ka puahi, “the fireplace”; hōkū lei, “star-garland"; ka hei-hei o nā keiki, “the cat’s cradle”; maka li’i, “eyes/stars little”) house easterly. The Milky Way galaxy illuminates easterly, northerly, southerly with the planets Jupiter easterly, Saturn (Hawaiianized i’a, “fish”; ka’āwela; ma kulu, “through [liquid, especially water] drop”) southwesterly.
‘Imiloa December 2024 Sky Watch jubilates joyous journeys of Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo as central llumination of Kekemapa (Hawaiianized “December”) moonrise- to moonset-illuminated, sunset- to sunrise-darkened skies.

The southern-ensconced planet Jupiter of four binocular-viewable moons and Saturn (Hawaiianized Ka’āwela; ma kulu, “drop of water”) of telescope-viewable rings keep evening and night skies light-kindled.
Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo lodges centrally in the evening and night skies all month even as some Kite-linked stars lounge central-north and others central-east, central-south and central-west. ‘Iwakelii manifests north-northeastward in ‘Ākau and Ko’olau horizons even as Manōkalanipō and Pi’ilani mobilize eastward in Hikina and Pi’ikea moors southeastward in Malanai and Hema horizons. Kāmōī nestles north-northwestward in ‘Ākau and Ho’olua horizons even as Kākuhīhewa and Keawe, then Kūkaniloko respectively niche westward in Hema, southwest-southward in Kona and Hema horizons.
‘Imiloa December 2024 Sky Watch observes Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo through Kawelo’s eight stars and such “night-owl” night-sky objects as solar-system moons and planets and Milky-Way stars.

All ‘ākau (“north”), ko’olau (“north[east], windward”) and ho’olua (“north[west]”), hikina (“east”) and komohana (“west”), hema (“south”), malanai (“south”) and kona (“southwest”) stars pair with Unitedstatesian patterns.
Manōkalanipō (“shark the heavenly night['s]”), Kākuhīhewa (“chart mistakenly”), Pi’ilani (“climbing heaven[ward]”) and Keawe (“the bearer”) qualify as Great Square of Pegasus’ Alpheratz, Scheat, Algenib and Markab. Their Kawelo’s-Kite companions southward and southwestward, Pi’ikea (“becoming [day]light”) and Kūkaniloko (“to anchor sound within”), reside where mainland Unitedstatesians render them respectively as Diphda and Fomalhaut. Wednesday the 4th, Friday the 6th, Sunday the 8th, Thursday the 26th and Friday the 27th perhaps suggest stellar sightings what with non-cloudy, non-rainy, sunny days.
Geminids meteor shower-teeming Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th perhaps transmit likewisedly tempting night-sky transformations for Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo during ‘Imiloa December 2024 Sky Watch.

Ancient Hawaiians acclaimed and modern traditional Hawaiians acclaim Kawelo a Maihunalii as late 17th-century, early 18th-century chief, hero, kitist of Kauai island and of Kawelo’s Kite Kalupeakawelo asterism. Chiefly status and family history accorded Kawelo residential lands on Kauai island even as cousinly status to hereditary rulers accorded him residential lands on Oahu. The present-day Kolekole Pass (from Hawaiian kole, “raw [or rare-cooked] meat” as adjective and “rawness” and “red soil” as noun) accounted for his residential lands there. It accounts, in the 20th and the 21st centuries, for the annual Kolekole Pass Half Marathon at Schofield Barracks just down Kolekole Road. Kawelo adored athletic activities generally and kite-flying, surfing and wrestling specifically. Area residents of Kolekole Pass perhaps affirm that athleticism in such athletic activities as the aforementioned annual half marathon; "Lt. Eric Roe assigned to the 'Golden Swordsmen' of Patrol Squadron Forty Seven (VP-47), completes the six-mile portion of the 21st annual Kolekole Pass Half Marathon at Schofield Barracks," U.S. Navy photo (ID 030802-N-0106C-003) by Journalist 1st Class Daniel J.
