Summary: Hawaiian happy-face spiders arouse no Dies Irae akin to season 2 episode 22 Monday, Sep. 18, 2023, on police procedural television drama NCIS: Hawai’i.
"God talks to human beings through many vectors: through each other, through organized religion, through the great books of those religions, through wise people, through art and music and literature and poetry, but nowhere with such detail and grace and color and joy as through creation. When we destroy a species, when we destroy a special place, we're diminishing our capacity to sense the divine, understand who God is and what our own potential is." Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., April 19, 2023, Boston Park Plaza Hotel, Back Bay, Boston, Massachusetts.
“And there’s many people out there who want us to move to the next planet already and I’m like, hang on, let’s not give up on this planet yet," William, Prince of Wales, July 31, 2023, Sorted Food food truck, London, England, United Kingdom.
Hawaiian happy-face spiders abide away from archipelagic (from Greek ἀρχι- πέλαγος -ῐκός, "main-sea -in the manner of, of, pertaining to") parasites and predators as much as possible. Flightless wasps (Baeus spp) abound as parasites. Endemic geometrid moth inchworms (Eupithecia craterias, Eupithecia orichloris, Eupithecia scoriodes, Eupithecia staurophragma) and introduced, invasive common coquí (Eleutherodactylus coqui) abound as predators. Long-legged (Dolichopodidae family) and pomace and vinegar (Drosophilidae family) flies abound as prey. The latter two families account for the black-brown digestive-product colors that account for abdomens temporarily blackened, reddened, whitened in Hawaiian happy-face spiders; Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, 14:25:19, image of Hawaiian happy-face spider (Theridion grallator), found on underside of Kahili ginger leaf (Hedychium gardnerianum), Waikamoi, East Maui: Forest Starr and Kim Starr (Forest & Kim), CC BY 2.0 Generic, via Flickr |
Hawaiian happy-face spiders arouse no Dies Irae akin to season 2 episode 22 debuted Monday, May 22, rerun Monday, July 22, and Sep. 18, 2023, on police procedural television drama NCIS: Hawai’i.
Episode 44 overall, by director Tim Andrew and writers Matt Bosack and Jan Nash, broaches the earthly Judgment Day begotten by human beings about human behaviors. People who consider themselves candidates for such conduct extralegally and informally sometimes carry out such campaigns not only on individual levels but also with mass-level components. The Hawaiian Islands defer to so many subtropical, temperate or tropical animals and plants such that commercial and home, large- and small-scale cultivation demand Judgment Day.
Hawaiian happy-face spiders, with their evasiveness and their exteriors, elicit, apart from such predators as invasive-frog (Eleutherodactylus coqui) and orchard-caterpillar (Eupithecia spp) pests, no such enmity.
The Eukaryota domain furnishes a cell nucleus to each multi-celled member in its Animalia kingdom (from Greek ἐΰς κάρυον, “true nut”; and Latin animal, “living creature”).
Hawaiian happy-face spiders accumulate in mesic and wet rainforests with respective 100-to 200-centimeter (39.37- to 78.74-inch) and 200-to 300-centimeter (78.74- to 137.79-inch) annual rainfall. They accustom themselves to 980- to 6,560-foot (300- to 2,000-meter) elevations above sea level. They accustom themselves to kipuka (from Hawaiian kī puka, “key hole”) areas of land amid younger lava flows even as they never acquire those lava flows as their native habitat; Tuesday, May 2, 2017, 21:41, UploadWizard-created map of Hawaiian archipelago shows migration/colonization routes of Theridion grallator over time, with samples taken from seven volcano regions (in red), colonization from Kauai or Niihau or nearest continent due to non-presence of Theridion grallator on Kauai or Niihau, colonization in conjunction with island age (purple lines), backwards colonization (light purple), allozyme and mtDNA-based data (adapted from Peter J. P. Croucher, Geoff S. Oxford, Athena Lam, Neesha Mody, and Rosemary G. Gillespie [2012], “Colonization history and population genetics of the color-polymorphic Hawaiian Happy-Face Spider Theridion grallator (Araneae, Theridiidae)”, in Evolution, volume 66, issue 9, pages 2815-2833): Andrew Z. The Eukaryota domain furnishes a cell nucleus to each multi-celled member in its Animalia kingdom (from Greek ἐΰς κάρυον, “true nut”; and Latin animal, “living creature”).
Animalia kingdomship gives Arthropoda phylum members (from Greek ἄρθρον πούς, “joint foot”) embryonically grown hollow-sphered cells; mobility; muscle cells; organic-material diets; oxygen breathability; and sexual reproduction. Arthropoda phylum membership heralds for Chelicerata subphylum invertebrates (from Greek χηλή κέρας, “claw horn”) moulting processes for their chitin-cuticle exoskeletons; jointed paired appendages; and segmented bodies. Chelicerata subphylum membership inspires in Arachnida class (from Greek ἀράχνη, “spider”) members heads fused with thoraxes and abdomens with atmospheric gas-exchanging respiratory book lungs and hearts.
No Dies Irae such as on NCIS: Hawai’i judges Hawaiian happy-face spiders, whose paired chelicerae appendages join their paired pedipalp appendages in feeding over defensive journeys.
Arachnida class membership kindles in Araneae order members (from Latin arāneus, “spider”) 8 eyes more light-collecting than image-knowing; hearing- and motion-detecting slit-sense organs; and sensory hairs.
Hawaiian happy-face spiders acquit themselves most successfully on the lower sides of plant leaves in the forests of Hawaii, Maui, Molokai and Oahu (from Hawaiian ha wai ‘i, “breath life-force supreme”; Proto-Polynesian maui, “left”; from Hawaiian Moloka’i, “gathering waters”; from Hawaiian o’ahu, “gathering place”). They adapt to native plant leaves such as those of Hawaiian bellflower (ʻōhā wai nui locally, Clermontia arborescens scientifically) and Hawaiian hydrangea (kanawao locally, Broussaisia arguta). They likewise adapt to the plant-leaf undersides of at least one introduced species, white garland-lily (butterfly lily, fragrant garland flower, Indian garland flower, white butterfly ginger lily, white ginger and white ginger lily commonly, Hedychium coronarium scientifically); Wednesday, Sep. 25, 2002, 16:27:11, image of kanawao (Broussaisia arguta; Hawaiian hydrangea) in habit at Waihee Ridge Trail, West Maui Mountains: Forest and Kim Starr (Starr Environmental), CC BY 2.0 Generic, via Flickr |
Arachnida class membership kindles in Araneae order members (from Latin arāneus, “spider”) 8 eyes more light-collecting than image-knowing; hearing- and motion-detecting slit-sense organs; and sensory hairs.
Araneomorphae infraorder members (from Latin arāneus, “spider”; and Greek μορφή, “appearance”) look to aforementioned Arachnid lifesavers to locate themselves away from, rather than lunge at, predators. Araneae and Araneomorphae memberships manifest crossing, pinching fangs maintained diagonally forward in Theridiidae family members (from Greek theridion, “tangle-web spider” and εἶδος, “appearance” via Latin -idæ). Theridiidae family membership nets Theridion grallator genus and species members female genital plates flow-through fertilized by male genital bulbs; and their fourth leg's serrated bristle-combed tarsus.
Hawaiian happy-face spiders occasion no Dies Irae such as occurs on NCIS: Hawai’i even as Araneae order, Araneomorphae infraorder and Theridiidae family memberships offer silk-spinning organs.
The grallator species, positioned taxonomically by Eugène Louis Simon (April 30, 1848-Nov. 17, 1924), presents the Theridion genus with viscid (from Latin viscidus, “sticky”) silk webs.
The inchworm stage in the Eupithecia genus of the geometrid moth family admits a carnivorous diet among some species and a herbivorous regime among others. Endemic (from Greek ἐν δῆμος, "in [with one's own] people") Hawaiian geometrid moths such as Eupithecia orichloris adopt such carnivorousness during their inchworm stage. They often afflict their carnivorous appetites upon foraging Hawaiian happy-face spiders; undated image of Eupithecia orichloris moth: Forest & Kim Starr, CC BY 3.0 Unported, via Wikimedia Commons |

Hawaiian happy-face spiders quarter see-through, small, yellow bodies, under 0.31 inches (5 milliliters) long, with abdomens often pale and see-through yellow; and with long, slender legs. Long-legged (Dolichopodidae family) and pomace and vinegar (Drosophilidae family) fly prey render happy-face abdomens black, red or white from digestive products black-browned 2 to 6 days. Rainforested 980- to 6,560-foot (300- to 2,000-meter) elevations with 100-centimeter (39.37-inch) to 200-centimeter (78.74-inch) mesic-rainforest, 200-centimeter (78.74-inch) to 350-centimeter (137.79-inch) wet-rainforest annual rainfall shelter happy-face spiders.
Dies Irae like on NCIS: Hawai’i threatens no spiderlings tended until physical and sexual maturity by biological and foster mothers on Hawaii, Maui, Molokai and Oahu.
Puerto Rican immigration into Hawaii aggregated 56 jobless workers from hurricane-destroyed Puerto Rican sugar plantations Dec. 23, 1900 on Kauai (from Hawaiian kaua’i, “place around the neck”?), Maui, Molokai and Oahu. Puerto Rican immigrants in the 20th century allowed themselves such cultural appurtenances as common coquí (Eleutherodactylus coqui) frogs assembled in shipped potted plants. The latter, Puerto Rican frogs associate Hawaiian happy-face spiders with easy-to-catch, nutritious prey; Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, 17:00:19, image of Puerto Rican coqui (Eleutherodactylus coqui) and horsetail casuarina (Casuarina equisetifolia), also known as beach she-oak, at Hilo, northeastern Hawaii (Big Island): Forest and Kim Starr (Starr Environmental), CC BY 2.0 Generic, via Flickr |

United States Exploring Expedition During the Years 1838, 1839, 1840, 1841, 1842 Under the Command of Charles Wilkes, U.S.N. Philadelphia [Pa}: Lea and Blanchard 7: 641. "C. ramulosum, in plano expansum, polypis secundum, ad apice ramiculorum dispositis et sape binis; axe calcareo, levi, pallidè carneo aut albo, crustáque coccineá.
"Ramulose, branching in a plane; polyps confined to one surface, mostly placed at the apex of very small branchlets and often in twos: axis calcareous, smooth, pale flesh-red or white, crust scarlet.
"Plate 60, fig. 1, zoophyte, natural size.
"This species is peculiar in having the branches arranged in a single plane, and the polyps confined to one surface. They open mostly at the extremities of slender calcareous processes. The only specimen seen by the author, was procured at the Sandwich Islands; but it may have been brought by shipping from some other locality. It is five inches high and eight broad, with the stem at base half an inch thick. The crust still remains dried on the axis and the right rays of the closed polyps may be easily distinguished."
