Honohono Hawaii Jewel Orchids Assuage Curtain Call on NCIS: Hawai’i

Summary: Honohono Hawaii jewel orchids assuage Curtain Call, season 2 episode 8 Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, on police procedural television series NCIS: Hawai’i.

Honohono and honohono a Kanaloa ("sharp-pointed [sea urchin] of [oceans god] Kanaloa) abide in Haleakala National Park, Maui county, Hawaii state (from Hawaiian hale a ka lā, "house of the sun"; Māui; ha wai 'i, "breath life-force supreme"). Hawai'i, Hawaii, Hawaiian jewel orchids, jeweled orchids and jewel-orchids accept dark, deep-shaded, moist-soiled areas among moss-accommodating soils and tree trunks; Wednesday, May 16, 2016, 23:43, image of "Nearing the end of vegetation above the clouds while driving to the summit of Haleakala at sunset," Haleakalā National Park, East Maui County: Boydsk2000, CC BY SA 4.0 International, via Wikimedia Commons

Honohono Hawaii jewel orchids, arranged maybe from cultivated assemblies, away from wild areas, perhaps assuage Curtain Call, season 2 episode 8 Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, on police procedural television series NCIS: Hawai’i.
The 30th episode overall, by director Christine Moore and writer Yakira Chambers, perhaps broaches what NCIS Hawaii Team leader Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) brought episode 6. NCIS Special Agent Tennant in Charge of the NCIS Hawai’i Field Office, Naval Base Pearl Harbor, Oahu, condoled the Ioane clan concerning Petty Officer Ben Ioane. She delivers to designated domiciles in the Ioane dwelling a potted “orchid for condolescences” (Sudden Death, Oct. 17, 2022) over the dead high-school footballer and serviceman.
Curtain Call perhaps encourages equivalent expressions, for which Hawaiian environments entertain cultivated and wild, endemic (from Greek ἐν δῆμος, “in [one’s own] people”) and exotic orchids.

Bog (okika locally, Platanthera holochila scientifically), jewel (honohono a Kanaloa, Anoetochilus sandvicensis) and twayblade (awapuhiakanaloa, Liparis hawaiensis) orchids face frail futures in fragile wildland-urban interfaces (WUI).
The Tracheophyte, Angiosperm, Monocot (from Greek τραχεῖα ἀρτηρία φυτά, “windpipe plants”; ἀγγεῖον σπέρμα, “container seed”; μόνος κοτυληδών, “one cup-shaped cavity”) clade member grows from germinated seeds. The Asparagales order and Orchidaceae family (from Greek ἀσπάραγος, "asparagus" and Latin -ālis, “-related”; Greek ὄρχις, “genital-shaped tuber” and Latin -āceae, “resembling”) member has myccorhizal help. Myccorhizal (from Greek μύκης ῥίζα, “fungus root”) fungi interact with fruit capsule-inhabiting, near-invisible seeds to initiate 2, 2-plus-year life cycles as maximally 20-inch- (50.8-centimeter-) tall herbs.
Curtain Call joins Anoectochilus sandvicensis (from Greek ἀνοικτός χεῖλος, “opened-lip”; Latin sandvicēnsis, “Sandwich Islands’”), judged by John Lindley (Feb. 5, 1799-Nov. 1, 1865), and NCIS: Hawai’i.

Hawai’i, Hawaii, Hawaiian jewel orchids, jeweled orchids and jewel-orchids know 0.39- to 0.59-inch- (10- to 15-millimeter-) long, 0.16-inch- (4-millimeter-) wide fruits with outward- and upward-pointing seeds.
Okika onohono a Kanaloa (from Hawaiian ‘okika honohono a Kanaloa, “orchid [alternate-positioned] joining [of leaves to stem] to [oceans god] Kanaloa”) lodges green and yellow flowers. It manifests 4- to 30-flowered, 1.97- to 5.91-inch- (50- to 150-millimeter-) long inflorescent racemes (from Latin flōreō scō, “I flower to start”; racēmus, “berry[-], fruit[-], grape[-]cluster[ed]”). It nets August- through December- or year-round flowering from its inflorescence-niched, leaf-like, 0.47- to 0.79-inch- (12- to 20-millimeter-) long bracts (from Latin bractea, “thin metal sheet[-like]”).
Honohono Hawaii jewel orchids offer Curtain Call on NCIS: Hawai'i downward-oriented, lobed, 0.35- to 0.47-inch- (9- to 12-millimeter-) long labella (from Latin labrum -ium, “lip little”).

Jewel-orchids possess two labellum-based, tapered, 0.16- to 0.24-inch- (4- to 6-millimeter-) long nectar spurs; 15- to 45-degree-upward-poised petals; 0.24- to 0.32-inch- (6- to 8-millimeter-) long sepals.
Four to six egg-shaped to elliptical, entire-edged, 1.58- to 3.94-inch (40- to 100-millimeter) by (0.59- to 1.58-inch (15- to 40-millimeter) pointed-tipped, ribbed leaves quarter whorled arrangements. The pseudobulb (from Greek ψευδής, “false”), 3.94- to 19.69-inch- (10- to 50-centimer-) high, thickened stem realizes storage-organ responsibilities to non-nitrogen-fixing, slender-rooted rhizomes (from Greek ῥίζα-ωμα, “root-mass”). The leafy, flowering, fruiting, seeding plant shelters chlorophyll and therefore serves as a forest source for itself and soil food webs of photosynthesized carbohydrates and sugars.
A dark, dense-shaded, forested, moist-soiled, 100- to 8,000-square-mile (250- to 20,000-square-kilometer-) territory including Haleakala National Park tends mossy soil- and mossy trunk-clinging honohono Hawaii jewel orchids.

"Plate 60, fig. 1, zoophyte, natural size. "This species is peculiar in having the branches arranged in a single plane, and the polyps confined to one surface. They open mostly at the extremities of slender calcareous processes. The only specimen seen by the author, was procured at the Sandwich Islands; but it may have been brought by shipping from some other locality. It is five inches high and eight broad, with the stem at base half an inch thick. The crust still remains dried on the axis and the right rays of the closed polyps may be easily distinguished."
