Summary: Keke Hawaiian stripebelly puffers are not in Gaijin, season 1 episode 5 Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, on police procedural television series NCIS: Hawai’i.
Keke Hawaiian stripebelly puffers, also acknowledged locally as ‘o’opu hue Hawaiian stripebelly puffers, are not in Gaijin, season 1 episode 5 Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, on police procedural television series NCIS: Hawai’i.
The 5th episode overall, by director Tim Andrew and writer Ron McGee, balances baring bad poisons that bode no antidote and bearing brunch-able, lunch-able, dinner-able flesh. Hawaiian stripebelly puffers constitute illegal consumption even as Ocean Watch columnist Susan Scott at the Honolulu Star-Bulletin counted seven casualties, all from stripebelly puffers, in 2000. Coral and rocky reef slopes; inner-reef flats over patch, rubble or sand reefs; and lagoons domicile Hawaiian stripebelly puffers, designated Hawaiian white-spotted and whitespotted puffers commonly.
Three-and-one-third- to 164-foot (1- to 50-meter) depths enable stripebellied, stripebelly, white-spotted, whitespotted puffers to establish demersal (from Latin dēmergere, “to submerge”) eggs, perhaps broadcast- or paired-spawned.
The Chordata (from Greek χορδή, “guts” via Latin chorda, “[having a noto]cord”) phylum member features hatched-egg, pelagic larvae (from Greek πέλαγος, “open-sea”; and Latin lārvae, “ghost”).
Sandy bottoms sometimes get the Actinopterygii (from Greek ἀκτίς πτέρυξ, “[having] rays, [having] fins”) class members half-buried even as estuary and reef-flat weeds guard juvenile puffers. The Tetraodontiformes (from Greek τετρα ὀδούς, “four teeth[like jaw bones]”; and Latin fōrma, “shape”) order member honors omnivorous (from Latin omnis vorare, “all to devour”) feeding. Tetraodontidae (from Greek τετρα ὀδούς εἶδος, “four teeth[like jaw bones] appearance”; and Latin -idæ) family members ingest anemones, calcareous or coralline algae, corals, crabs and detritus.
Keke Hawaiian stripebelly puffers, like fugu Japanese tiger puffers on NCIS: Hawai’i, journey after echinoderm, mollusk, sponge, tube-worm and tunicate prey and away from shark predators.
Hawaiian stripebelly puffers, keke and ‘o’opu hue (from Hawaiian kēkē, pufferfish and ‘o’opu hue, “gourd stomach”) locally, keep to the Indo-Pacific Ocean’s subtropical and tropical waters.
Arothron hispidus (from Greek α ῥώθων, “without nostril”; and Latin hispidus, “bristly, hairy, prickly, rough, shaggy”) lives from off East Africa to Hawaii and Central America. The east African, south and west Asian and Pacific native manifests elongate, robust bodies with small spines all over apart their caudal peduncles and their snouts. The beak-like, four-tooth jaw nets sutures between each tooth even as frontward dorsal, bottomward anal and rearward caudal fins each niche 10 to 11 soft rays.
Slow-speed anal, dorsal, and pectoral and swift-speed caudal fins operate similarly on keke Hawaiian stripebelly puffers as fugu Japanese tiger puffers in Gaijin on NCIS: Hawai’i.
The front, the side and the rear ends respectively present two fleshy tentacles in each nostril; restricted gill opening; bent lateral line; and speed-enhancing caudal-fin roundness.
Hawaiian stripebelly puffers, qualified locally as keke and as ‘o’opu hue and quested taxonomically by Carl Linnaeus (May 23, 1707-Jan. 10, 1778), quarter brown-green, green-brown bodies. They reveal front-to-rear, small white spots on their back and their flanks and on their caudal (from Hawaiian cauda -ālis, “tail having” via Latin caudālis) fin. Their belly shelters signature white bars even as their body supports mature 18.89- to 19.7-inch (48 to 50-centimeter) total lengths and mature 4.41-pound (2-kilogram) total weights.
Aquarium-trade and restaurant industries; climate change; marine pollution; and trophy fishing threaten keke Hawaiian stripebelly puffers and fugu Japanese tiger puffers in Gaijin on NCIS: Hawai’i.

"This species is peculiar in having the branches arranged in a single plane, and the polyps confined to one surface. They open mostly at the extremities of slender calcareous processes. The only specimen seen by the author, was procured at the Sandwich Islands; but it may have been brought by shipping from some other locality. It is five inches high and eight broad, with the stem at base half an inch thick. The crust still remains dried on the axis and the right rays of the closed polyps may be easily distinguished."
