Coastal Connecticut attracts reality ads for new, improved breakfast cereals, in Stalking the Puzzle Lady, 7th mystery in the 20-book Puzzle Lady series authored by Parnell Hall (Oct. 31, 1934-Dec. 15, 2020).

Being bored in the Carter/Felton residence built on a country road and biting into boring breakfast cereals for reality ads bother number puzzle lady Cora Felton. Campaigns capitalizing on new, improved Granville Grains Corn Toasties call for Cora to come from her one-acre (4,047-meter) rental to coastal Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. They demand reality ads, derived from reality television, of attendees downing free, milky bowlfuls with Cora at commercial centers, grocery stores, shopping malls and supermarket chains.

Four executives expect Cora to employ her red Toyota from Bakerhaven to Danbury, Stamford, Mystic, Westerly and Weston, Connecticut; through Rhode Island; to just outside Boston.

The advertising agency fits publicist Jennifer Blaylock, producer Quentin Burns and segments director Daphne Decker into a free tour car and into fine, single-occupant motel rooms.

Out-of-pocket arrangements get crew members from their homes to tour lodgings, from which commercial coach chauffeured, refurbished, rented as tour bus gets them to filming grounds. Cora and makeup lady Florence Evans have single units even as actor, boom-man, cameraman, electrician, grip, prop-man, soundman and teamster crew members huddle in double-occupant rooms. The first filming is in a soundstage somewhere in the Queens borough of New York City even as the first tour site is in Danbury mall.

Cora and, with Bakerhaven Gazette reporter Aaron Grant, niece Sherry Carter respectively journey to Danbury mall and Bakerhaven mall’s movie theater in Stalking the Puzzle Lady.

Stop & Shop amid Danbury mall’s Blockbuster Video, multiplex cinema, Rite Aid and Walmart and Stamford Food 4 Less in coastal Connecticut respectively kindle reality ads.

A lost wallet and a loosened rail lead police officers to a Stamford motel near Krispy Kreme and Starbucks and a Mystic motel opposite hardware-store parking. Aaron and attorney Becky Baldwin motor from her office atop Bakerhaven pizza parlor, to Bakerhaven Wicker Basket, to a Mystic restaurant where Cora and Sherry meet. They notify them of Sherry’s ex-husband, Dennis Pride, navigating Bakerhaven, Stamford and Mystic and not nestling into New Haven appointments or sales conferences in Cleveland, Ohio.

Freddy Fosterfield, New York City Public School 84 graduate with Cora, observes reality ads in coastal Connecticut at Mystic and Stamford in Stalking the Puzzle Lady.

Freddy pilots his blue Chevy Impala from Danbury, to Bakerhaven’s Cushman bakery, Stamford, Mystic and Weston, whose Italian restaurant presents him and Cora pleasing seafood platters.

Westerly mall’s Stop & Shop off I95 quarters last reality ads even as Dennis quits Yonkers Cross County, Saw Mill Parkway South, Henry Hudson and Riverdale. Police officers retain Dennis, whose second wife, Brenda Wallenstein, resides in New York City, at the Bronx-Manhattan tollbooth until they retrace his Merritt Parkway route southward. Tour members seek the employee lounge of Price Chopper after a second slaying, the latter staged along the several-block stretch between an I95-situated bar and motel.

Her yearbook transmits dark-haired, fiery-eyed tempestusousness transformed decades later into talismanic Cora of reality ads and Bakerhaven and coastal Connecticut police in Stalking the Puzzle Lady.

Stop & Shop accumulates the most sites for reality ads in the promotional tour for Granville Grains Corn Toasties.
