Hawaiian Goose Nēnē: Birds of a Feather Episode on Hawaii Five-0 2010

Summary: Hawaiians admire the Hawaiian goose nēnē even though non-native wild turkey appears in the Hawaii Five-0 2010 Thanksgiving episode Nov. 16, 2018.

The Hawaii Five-0 2010 active police procedural television series episode Birds of a Feather Nov. 16, 2018, applies to like liking like around the Thanksgiving Day turkey, not the Hawaiian goose nēnē.
Director Carlos Bernard and writer Chi McBride bare the olelo au ("advice") Lele pū nā manu like in Season 9's eighth episode, 201st series episode overall. His father Percy (Louis Gossett Jr.), mother Ella (Gladys Knight) and brother Percy Jr. (Clifton Powell) come to Lou Grover's (Chi McBride) house to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Day in the United States developed from the deer dinner in autumn 1621 of 50-some English-speaking Pilgrims and 90-some Wampanoag tribesmen into turkey dinners nationwide. The bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) ended up as the United States' national bird even though Benjamin Franklin (Jan. 27, 1706-April 17, 1790) endorsed the wild turkey.

The Hawaiian goose nēnē (from the Anatidae duck, geese and swan family member's soft call) functions as the 50th state's official bird since May 7, 1957.
Breeding months and 29- to 32-day incubation times in the Hawaiian goose nēnē life cycle respectively go from August through April and from November through January. The physically and sexually mature Hawaiian goose nēnē has ground-based lifestyles for feeding, mating and nesting even though they head to the air between activity sites. Adult females install 4-inch- (10.16-centimeter-) deep, 7- to 9-inch (17.78- to 22.86-centimeter) inside diameter, 16- to 25-inch (40.64- to 63.5-centimeter) outside diameter down-, stem-, twig-lined nests.
The Hawaiian goose nēnē male joins, as sentry, the brooding female of one to 5 elliptical, non-glossy, smoooth, white 2.83- by 1.89-inch (72- by 48-millimeter) eggs.

The Hawaiian goose nēnē, known scientifically as Branta sandvicensis (from Old Norse brandgás, "burned" and same-spelled Latin, "Sandwich Islands"), keeps the season's young until breeding seasons.
Precocial (from Latin praecox, "precocious") nestlings look brown on backs, caps and napes; green-yellow on bellies, faces, necks and wings; blue-gray-green on bills, feet and legs. Nestlings as nine-week-olds and goslings (young geese) manage flying between lowland mating and nesting grounds and feeding grounds up through 7,874.02-foot (2,400-meter) altitudes above sea level. Goslings, compared to adult females and males, nurture diagonally striped black necks; duller brown bodies; softer black bills, heads, napes, feet and legs; subtler buff cheeks.
The Hawaiian goose nēnē, observed scientifically in 1833 by Nicholas Aylward Vigors (Dec. 12, 1785-Oct. 26, 1840), obtains 16.14-inch (41-centimeter) head-foot heights during physically mature stages.

The physically and sexually mature Hawaiian goose nēnē presents 20.87- to 25.98-inch (53- to 66-centimeter) head-body lengths, with adult females 11 percent smaller than adult males.
The female and the male Hawaiian goose nēnē respectively queue up 3.36- to 5.64-pound (1.525- to 2.56-kilogram) and 3.74- to 6.72-pound (1.695- to 3.05-kilogram) mature weights. They require flower-, fruit-, grass-, leaf- and seed-filled regimes amid coastal dunes, golf courses, grasslands, lava plains, pastures and shrublands on Hawai'i, Kaua'i, Maui and Molokai. The International Union for Conservation of Nature serves a vulnerability status on the Hawaiian goose nēnē, whose wild populations once spread to Kaho'olawe, Lāna'i and O'ahu.
The Hawaiian goose nēnē undoubtedly thanks Hawaiians and mainland transplants, such as Captain Grover, who respectively treasure island culture and wildlife and think of islander safety.
