Guatemalan Sugarcane, Guatemalan Rum on Elementary's How to Get a Head

Summary: Is Sherlock Holmes really ignorant of Botran and Zacapa Guatemalan rum made from Guatemalan sugarcane on Elementary's How to Get a Head Aug. 12, 2013?

Guatemalan sugarcane adapted to Pacific Ocean coasts accommodates world demand for alcoholic beverages through world-appreciated Guatemalan rum in the Elementary procedural drama series episode How to Get a Head Aug. 12, 2013.
Director Christine Moore and writers Robert Doherty, Sherman Li and Kelly Wheeler brandish a fictitious Guatemalan rum in the sixth season's 15th episode, the 135th overall. Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) collect crime-related clues concerning Guatemala's Champerico Rum distillery and bottling plant and correspondingly fictitious paramilitary group. The Movimiento Armado para una Guatemala Libre ("Armed Movement for a Free Guatemala") defines opposition organizations during the Guatemalan Civil War (Nov. 13, 1960-Dec. 29, 1996).
Ron Botran ("Botran [Brothers] Rum") and Ron Zacapa ("Zacapa [City] Rum") epitomize Guatemalan rum whereas Champerico exists as an export port for coffee, sugar and timber.

Fresh, pressed Guatemalan sugarcane juice heated and thickened into syrupy honey for storage and subsequent fermentation furnishes the Guatemalan rum brands premium Botran and super-premium Zacapa.
Naturalized Guatemalan sugarcane generates all Guatemalan rum as agricultural rum from fresh sugarcane juice or as molasses rum from sugarcane residue after boiling and concentrating juices. The 16th century heralded the Spanish conquest with the arrival of Pedro de Alvarado y Contreras (1485?-July 4, 1541) in southwestern Guatemala's Soconusco region in 1523. Spanish conquerors introduced New Guinean sugarcane into south-central Guatemala around Lake Amatitlán within 13 years and in Escuintla and Guazacapán and then into Jilotepeque, southwestern Guatemala.
Saccharum officinarum ("sugar of the manufactory," from the Sanskrit शर्करा, śárkarā, "gravel, grit," "ground or candied sugar" and Latin opifex, "laborer") joined Guatemalan flora in 1536.

The southern departments of Escuintla, Retalhuleu, Santa Rosa and Suchitepéquez keep the most supportive air and soil temperatures and light and moisture levels for Guatemalan sugarcane.
Guatemalan sugarcane, listed scientifically in Carl Linnaeus's (May 23, 1707-Jan. 10, 1778) taxonomic system since 1753, languishes in temperatures above 91.4 degrees Fahrenheit (33 degrees Celsius). Minimum air and steady soil temperatures at 80.6 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius) up through 84.23-foot (300-meter) altitudes above sea level maximize sugarcane growth and photosynthesis. Guatemalan sugarcane needs supplementary irrigation systems, despite 47.24- to 59.06-inch (1,200- to 1,500-millimeter) annual rainfall, because of overlapping dry and harvest seasons from mid-October through mid-April.
Sugarcane industrialists operate Chabil Utzaj, Concepción, El Pilar, La Sonrisa, La Unión, Madre Tierra, Magdalena, Palo Gordo, Pantaleon, Santa Ana, Santa Teresa, Trinidad and Tululá mills.

The Guatemalan Sugarcane Research and Training Center (Centro Guatemalteco de Investigación y Capacitación de la Caña de Azúcar) promotes disease-resistant, ecosystem-adaptable, high-yielding, ratoonable (stubble crop-sprouting) varieties.
Guatemalan sugarcane and its varieties with wild sugarcane (Saccharum spontaneum, "spontaneous sugar") queue up green, pink or purple stems up to 16.4 feet (5 meters) tall. They reveal grass-like, green, 11.81- to 23.62-inch- (30- to 60-centimeter-) long, 1.97-inch- (5-centimeter-) wide leaves with alternate locations along non-branching stems, saw-toothed edges and thick midribs. They sport 11.81- to 23.62-inch- (30- to 60-centimeter-) long, pink, plume-like panicles; 0.12-inch- (3-millimeter-) long spikelets; and dark, dry fruits, each with 0.06-inch- (1.5-millimeter-) long seeds.
Perhaps Sherlock thinks so fast and so much that he truncates Champerico, export port for Botran and Zacapa distillery and bottling plant rum, into Champerico rum.
