Assamese Chef Plavaneeta Borah "pennes" her Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad as an appealing, flavorful dish that expands Classic Caesar Salad from an elegantly simple garden salad into an irresistibly hearty, non-vegetarian grain salad.
Caesar Salad endures as the culinary masterpiece of Italian immigrant restauranteur Cesare "Caesar" Cardini (Feb. 24, 1896-Nov. 3, 1956). The venue for Chef Cesare's inspired creation, which debuted in 1924, was his restaurant in northwestern Mexico. Caesar's Restaurant still operates in Baja California state's largest city, Tijuana.
Caesar Salad's culinary history reveals global popularity of the garden salad's original recipe and of a plethora of variations. Chef Cesare's salad continues to inspire vegan, non-vegetarian and vegetarian versions.
Assamese digital content strategist, marketing specialist, chef and food journalist Plavaneeta Borah's Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad explores the classic recipe's receptivity to creativity. Chef Plavaneeta's recipe classifies as a garden, grain, meat and pasta salad.
Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad's total cook time of 40 minutes breaks down to 10 minutes of prep time and 30 minutes of cook time. The recipe yields two servings. The recipe is graded as easy.
Chef Plavaneeta's Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad constructs the salad with two skinless chicken breasts, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon of chopped garlic; olive oil for three slices of bread; 20 clean lettuce leaves (type of lettuce unspecified), 1 cup of boiled pasta, 1/2 cup of cherry tomatoes, halved, and 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese shavings. The dressing calls for 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 1 chopped garlic clove, 1 tablespoon of vinegar and salt to taste.
The chicken breasts are rubbed with chopped garlic and olive oil and then are placed in a frying pan. During 10 minutes of pan-frying, they are turned to brown both sides. The pan is removed from the burner and set aside for 10 minutes of cooling. The cooled chicken breasts then are cubed.
The oven is preheated to 150 degrees Celsius (302 degrees Fahrenheit). During preheating, the bread slices are torn into small croutons and spread on a baking tray. Olive oil and any desired seasoning are added and then tossed lightly into the croutons. Baking time of 15 minutes goldens the croutons.
Deposit the mayonnaise, garlic, vinegar and salt into the dressing bowl. The dressing ingredients are whisked together.
The lettuce leaves are torn into rough, small portions into the salad bowl. The cooked penne, chicken cubes and halved cherry tomatoes are added and then tossed into the torn lettuce.
Nextly, the dressing is spooned into the salad bowl. The dressing and the salad are tossed well together. Chef Plavaneeta prompts about checking any seasonings.
The salad is topped with golden croutons. Parmesan cheese shavings garnish the salad.
Chef Plavaneeta's employer, New Delhi Television (NDTV) Limited, published Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad on the news media company's food portal, NDTV Food. Chef Plavaneeta describes her recipe as "a quick and easy lunch meal" that makes "all-time favourite Caesar Salad . . . more wholesome with penne pasta tossed [into] it."
Chef Plavaneeta's recipe also is available via Pakistan-based Zoya's YouTube channel, food recipes. Titled "Fast Food -- Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad Recipe / Chef: Plavaneeta Borah / Cook Time: 30 Minutes," the segment was uploaded July 9, 2017.
My family's Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad resembles Chef Plavaneeta's version. Our recipe further colorizes the salad by replacing the usually cream-yellow penne with such colorful varieties as spinach (green)- or tomato (red)-based penne.
Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad numbers among a plethora of appealing recipes in Chef Plavaneeta's culinary repertoire. Chef Plavaneeta's education includes attendance at the Assam Valley School, a private, co-educational boarding school in Balipara, Sonitpur district, central Assam state, northeast India. She received her master's degree in Communications in 2011 at Christ College in Bengaluru (Bangalore), southeastern Karnataka state, southwest India. Her post-graduate degree in Digital Marketing and Communication was earned in 2020 from MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) in Baltimore, central Maryland, northeastern United States.
