Olive ridley sea turtles are helped by Magnum’s Murder Is Never Quiet crime action drama television series episode Feb. 25, 2019, more than by Say Hello to Your Past April 10, 2020.

First-season 16th-episode director David Straiton and writer Barbie Kligman and second-season 15th-episode director Avi Youabian and writer Joe Gazzam benefit natural beauty while baring bad behavior. Josh Healy (Wavyy Jonez) in Murder Is Never Quiet and Milo Rivers (Dohn Norwood) in Say Hello to Your Past communicate culpability to Honolulu law enforcement. Alcoholic drinks dominate the daily diet of the former even as a confirmed criminal career and a last heist drive the daily decisions of the latter.

Private investigator Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez) exposes the respective killers of Libby Conner and Kalei Rivers as other than men who empathize with turtles and sailboats.

Olive ridley sea turtles feature among marine animals favoring the Hawaiian islands as functional habitat even as they figure low among those frequently found foraging there.

The Cheloniidae (from Greek χελώνη, “tortoise, turtle” and ειδής, “-like”) sea turtle family member generates one to three 30- to 200-egg nests between April and August. They head, every two to three years after physical and sexual maturity as 10- to 15-plus-year-olds, from Hawaiian-island feeding waters to breeding waters and nesting beaches. They each install golfball-sized, white eggs at 53.34- to 175.26-inch (21- to 69-centimeter) depths in humidly sandy beaches, where higher temperatures increase female over male hatchables.

Female olive ridley sea turtles journey once or, at four- to 75-day intervals, twice or thrice to mass arribada (from Spanish arribada, “arrival”) or solitary sites.

Sand-kept eggshells keep their hatchables 48 to 75 days, after which night skies and ocean scents and sounds kindle hatchlings knowing their way to open waters.

Yolk-scarred hatchlings lodge serrated (from Latin serrātus, “saw-shaped”) rear-end scutes (from Latin scūtum, “shield”) and white-edged flippers and 1.5- to 2-inch- (37- to 50-millimeter-) long shells. Black-gray, 0.42- to 0.82-pound (12- to 23.3-gram) hatchlings mature into black-gray juveniles with saw-profiled, triple-keeled (three-ridged) carapaces and gray-green, 55.12- to 110.23-pound (25- to 50-kilogram) adults. The scientifically named Lepidochelys olivacea (from Greek λεπίς, “scale” and χέλῡς, “tortoise”; and Latin olīvācea, “olive-green”) nets 24- to 30-inch- (60.96- to 76.2-centimeter-) long carapaces (upper-shells).

Olive ridley sea turtles, observed by Johann von Eschcholtz (Nov. 1, 1793-May 7, 1831), obtain self-defensively chelonitoxin-laced bodies and eggs and scaly, thickened heads and shells.

Mature females and males possess eyes separated by scales; fine-serrated, short-snouted beaks; non-withdrawable, triangle-shaped heads; four one- to two-clawed, paddle-like flippers; and pore-edged, white-yellow plastrons (lower-shells).

Dome-carapaced, flat-plastroned, short-, thin-tailed females and tapering-carapaced, concave-plastroned, long-, thick-tailed males queue heart-shaped, pore-bearing carapaces with 10 to 18 lateral and 24 to 28 marginal scutes. Three-hour submergences and 492.13-plus-foot (150-plus-meter) dives require algal, barnacle, crab, egg, fish, jellyfish, lobster, mollusk, sea squirt, sea urchin, seagrass, shrimp, snail, squid and worm prey. They suffer from boating, commercial, fishing, recreational, shipping debris, lights and traffic; oil, pesticide, pollutant and tar spills; predatory herons, sharks and whales; and trophy collectors.

Some Magnum episodes transmit Hawaiian traditions of treading thoughtfully through air, land and water trails even as others touch aquarium-trade relatives of olive ridley sea turtles.
