Five-0's Hawaiian He'e Big Blue Day Octopus of the Deep Spews Its Ink

Summary: Hawaii Five-0's Pupuhi Ka He'e O Kai Uli March 15, 2019, asserts that the Hawaiian he'e big blue day octopus of the deep spews its ink.

The Hawaii Five-0 television series episode Pupuhi Ka He'e O Kai Uli: The Octopus of the Deep Spews Its Ink March 15, 2019, acknowledges Hawaiian he'e big blue day octopus escape artistry.
Director Maya Vrvilo and writers Christos Gage and Ruth Fletcher Gage build Season 9's 19th episode around an 'ōlelo a'o (advice) about blindsiding, bombarding, booby-trapping behaviors. The series 212th episode overall perhaps considers that "the executioner's face is always well hidden" behind the criminal, politically corrupt tentacles that closely claim two casualties. It perhaps demonstrates Bob Dylan's A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall declaration in the criminal, political machinations behind the deaths of a gambler and a window washer.
Criminally political enigmas and a street artist who entertains a window-washing alter ego equate to Hawaiian he'e big blue day octopus ink and color-, shape-, texture-shifting.

The Hawaiian he'e big blue day octopus functions as a fortuitous omen in furnishing traditional Hawaiian cuisine and culture with luau (feast) and poke (slice) fare.
The female associate of Hawaiian underworld god, navigator, spiritual leader and healer Kanaloa gestates 500,000-plus transparent, 0.12-inch (3-millimeter) eggs 20 to 30 days in sheltered dens. The Octopodidae (from Greek ὀκτώ, októ, "eight"; πούς, poús, "feet"; and είδος, eídos, "form") family member hatches into planktonic larval drifters of shallow surface substrate waters. The 2.26-ounce (64-gram) Cephalopoda (from Greek κεφαλή, kephalé, "head" and πούς, poús, "foot") order larva incurs 10- to 12-month-old, 11.29- to 21.16-ounce (320- to 600-gram) sizes.
Fifteen- to 232.81-ounce (425.24- to 6,600-ounce) he'e big blue day octopus 15- to 18-month-olds juggle 23.62- to 31.49-plus-inch (60- to 80-plus-centimeter) arms and 6.29-inch (16-centimeter) mantles.

The fleshy, muscular white-spotted red mantle keeps protected the blue-blooded vessels, brain, brain-linked main systemic heart, gill-link brachial hearts, ink sac, intestines, kidney, liver and stomach.
The mantle interior's two brachial hearts and underside's mouth respectively move blood into the gills and oxygenated water into gill chambers and out the funnel-like siphon. Double-rowed, rimmed, underarm suckers on the dawn and dusk navigators, named Octopus cyanea (from Greek κυάνεος, kuáneos, "blue"), nets chemical color- and pattern-changing and textural receptors.
The Hawaiian he'e big blue day octopus, observed by John Edward Gray (Feb. 12, 1800-March 7, 1875), obtains crab, fish, lobster, scallop, shrimp and snail prey.

Hawaiian he'e big blue day octopus females and males perish from enlarged ovaries and suckers 10-plus self-starved days after egg-hatching and two self-starved months after mating.
Sea-floor, sheltered cracks, dens and holes within 262.47-foot (80-meter-) wide, 147.64-foot- (45-meter-) deep reef flats and slopes qualify as Hawaiian he'e big blue day octopus homes. The deaf, keen-eyed, smell-savvy, sound-tolerant, touch-sensitive Hawaiian he'e big blue day octopus reveals black, mucous-rich, shape-shifting ink; color-, pattern-, texture-changing camouflage; parrot-like beaks; and powerful suckers. The Indian and Pacific Ocean and Red Sea native secretes flesh-liquefying, paralyzing saliva; simulates cloud-patterned surfaces around predators and prey; and sustains jet-propelled, mouth-inhaled, siphon-expelled swims.
Hawaiian he'e big blue day octopus camouflage, ink and tentacles trap prey and thwart predators out of survival, not the greedy cruelty of Hawaii Five-0's suspects.
