Marvel Studios, LLC and the Science & Entertainment Exchange program of the National Academy of Sciences are partnering the Girls Reforming the Future Challenge with completed applications accepted through March 26, 2016.
Application procedures bring together girls aged 15 to 18 years, attending high school grades 10 to 12 and proficient in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Application guidelines call for applicants to ideate projects that can be explained in short video formats and that share goals evident in Captain America: Civil War. Elizabeth Olsen describes commitments as Scarlet Witch to “safeguard humanity, protect the earth at all costs and make the world a better place for future generations.”
Selection committee members expect to move quickly once the window closes for submitting videos that explain the immediate relevance and the long-term significance of world-changing ideas.

The selection process for Girls Reforming the Future Challenge flies five finalists to California in order to pitch their projects directly to a panel of experts.
The final five get invitations to the world premiere of Captain America: Civil War, red carpet event at Hollywood’s live-performance Dolby Theatre April 12, 2016. The scheduled activities and events during their stay in California have among their high points for the quintet a tour of Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. The individualized rewards for placing among the top five applicants include the receipt of a $500 savings account from Synchrony Bank headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut.
Only one finalist from the final five joins the creative production team at Marvel Studios as the grand prize winner of an internship in Burbank, California.

High profile honors such as attendance at red carpet events keep not only the grand prizewinner but also the other four finalists busy making career-friendly contacts.
Elizabeth Olsen, Captain America: Civil War co-star and video co-hostess with Emily VanCamp, lets Girls Reforming the Future Challenge applicants know that “Marvel’s a perfect place.” She mentions welcoming “exceptional young women who have STEM backgrounds and who maybe also want to be part of more of a creative- and science-based world.”
Applicants need not worry about the career paths that open with participation in the program since the Science & Entertainment Exchange currently celebrates consultation number 1,000.

The National Academy of Sciences, congressionally chartered private non-profit since 1863 under an act signed by 16th U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, operates the Science Education Exchange.
The National Academy of Sciences, according to its website, partners with the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Medicine and the National Research Council. It qualifies as communicator of “scientific advice to the nation” and the Science & Entertainment Exchange connector for “entertainment industry professionals with top scientists and engineers.” The connections result in “a synergy between accurate science and engaging storylines in both film and TV programming” by identifying “the ideal expert for each consultation.” The Science & Entertainment Exchange seeks in particular “to use the vehicle of popular entertainment media to deliver sometimes subtle, but nevertheless powerful, messages about science.”
The Girls Reforming the Future Challenge takes career bends that may bode as well for applicants as for Kip Thorne, Caltech astrophysicists and Interstellar science advisor.
