Kokio Keokeo Oahu White Hibiscus Allies Magnum's Bad Day and Farewell

Summary: Kokio keokeo Oahu white hibiscus allies Season One Magnum's Bad Day to be a Hero and Season Two Magnum's Farewell to Love, rerun Jan. 1, 2021.

Hibiscus arnottianus subsp. arnottianus (Aloalo, hau hele, kokio kea, kokio keokeo, pamakani; respectively from Hawaiian 'alo'alo, "[general term for] hibiscus"; hau hele, "hibiscus to move [to Hawaii by early Hawaiians]"; koki'o kea, "hibiscus white"; koki'o ke'oke'o, "hibiscus clear white"; pāmakani, "hibiscus, violet [Viola chamissoniana]); Waiehu, West Maui; Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, 11:14:08: Forest & Kim Starr, CC BY 4.0 International, via Starr Environmental

Kokio keokeo Oahu white hibiscus allies Season One Magnum's Bad Day to be a Hero Dec. 10, 2018, and Season Two Magnum's Farewell to Love Apr. 17, 2020, rerun Jan. 1, 2021.
Writer Ashley Charbonnet broaches broken-hearted love in the first season's 10th episode and, with Alfredo Barrios Jr., in the second season's 16th episode, series' 36th overall. Tenth-episode director Lin Oeding centers emotional crises around poker game hostess Toni (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) choosing mainland careers over King Kamehameha Club manager Rick Wright (Zachary Knighton). Thirty-sixth-episode director Bronwen Hughes directs Teresa (Meagan Holder), hometown love of Theodore Calvin (Stephen Hill), to honeymoon drinks with Andy (Philip I. Martin) at Rick's bar.
Mainland existences endanger enduring emotions for Teresa more than for Toni, who entrusts Rick with her houseplant, one of the world's exclusively, exquisitely fragrant, white hibiscuses.

The five-plus-year-lived Malvaceae (from Latin malva, "mallow" and -āceae, "resembling") family member forms from brown-yellow, fuzzy, 0.13-inch- (0.32-centimeter-) long seeds germinatable within three to nine days.
Brown or yellow, papery, ripe 0.5- to 1.0-inch (1.27- to 2.54-centimeter) capsules gape open so that their seeds germinate on the ground below or get wildlife-dispersed. Branch ends harbor single flowers whose calyxes (from Greek κάλυξ, "husk") hedge anthers on spreading filamentous tips, capsules within sepals and staminate columns within flaring petals. Four-inch (10.16-centimeter) diameter arnottianus and punaluuensis subspecies versus immaculatus subspecies flowers respectively impart pink, pink-white, white fragrances to red stamens versus white fragrance to white stamens.
Development, grazers and invasives jeopardize kokio keokeo Oahu white hibiscus, Hibiscus arnottianus (from Greek βίσκος, "marsh mallow"; for George Walker-Arnott [Feb. 6, 1788-June 17, 1868]) scientifically.

Arnottianus 1.5- to 4-inch- (3.81- to 10.16-centimeter-) and punaluuensis 4- to 10-inch- (10.16- to 25.4-centimeter-) long oval leaves keep smooth upper-sides and smooth to semi-toothed edges.
Four- to 12-inch- (10.15- to 30.48-centimeter-) long, round-tooth-edged immaculatus (from Latin in, "without" and maculō, "stain") leaves look red-stemmed and red-veined like arnottianus and punaluuensis subspecies. Arnottianus, monitored by Asa Gray (Nov. 18, 1810-Jan. 30, 1888), manages 390- to 2,500-foot (118.87- to 762-meter) altitudes above Waianae (from Hawaiian wai'anae, "mullet waters") coastlines. Punaluuensis, noted by Carl Skottsberg (Dec. 1, 1880-June 14, 1963) and David Bates, nets 650- to 2,200-foot (198.13- to 670.56-meter) Koolau (from Hawaiian ko’olau, "windward") altitudes.
Immaculatus, organized by Sister Margaret James Roe (June 12, 1925-Nov. 15, 2003) and David Bates, observe 50- to 1,600-foot (15.24- to 487.68-meter) coastal northeastern Molokai altitudes.

Mature arnottianus subspecies of Oahu (from Hawaiian o’ahu, "gathering place") present 15- to 30-foot (4.58- to 9.14-meter) heights and 20- to 25-foot (6.09- to 7.62-meter) spreads.
Mature punaluuensis (from Hawaiian punalu’u, "coral dived for [from steep sea cliffs at Punalu’u]") subspecies qualify for 15- to 20-foot (4.58- to 6.09-meter) heights and spreads. Punaluuensis subspecies remain upright, unlike open to airy to compact arnottianus and punaluuensis habits, at 5- to 10-foot (1.53- to 3.05-meter) mature heights, spacing and spreads. All three survive annual 100-inch (2,540-millimeter) rainfall; lowest cold-weather temperature above 20 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 6.6 degrees Celsius); and sunny, well-drained soil pHs 6.1 to 7.5.
Theodore never tells Teresa about Rick's kokio keokeo Oahu white hibiscus, transmissible as 4- to 6-inch (10.16- to 15.24-centimeter), 0.25-inch (0.64-centimeter) diameter air-layered, grafted, semi-hardwood cuttings.

Tiger Mosquitoes Annoy Magnum's Death Is Only Temporary and Farewell to Love

Summary: Tiger mosquitoes annoy two investigators in Magnum's Death Is Only Temporary Oct. 29, 2018, and perhaps again in Farewell to Love Apr. 17, 2021.

Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) begins its blood-meal; 2002 image from Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention's Public Health Image Library (PHIL), identification number #2165, by CDC scientific photographer James Gathany: Public Domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Tiger mosquitoes annoy two investigators in Magnum's Death Is Only Temporary crime action drama television series episode Oct. 29, 2018, and perhaps attack again in Farewell to Love Apr. 17, 2021.
Director Duane Clark and writers Gene Hong and Scarlett Lacey besiege Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks) and private investigator Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez) with biting, bothersome bugs. Season One’s sixth episode perhaps converges tiger mosquitoes, also called forest mosquitoes, upon the professional couple, camouflaged as a personal couple in Season Two’s 16th episode. Elizabeth Cole (Alexandra Marlin) decomposed for 31 years in Waimano Park, perhaps more a mosquito-draw than Waimea Falls, where Bert (Tanner Gill) decomposes for several hours.
Oahu (from Hawaiian o’ahu, “gathering place”) entertains no endemic (Hawaii-exclusive, from Greek ἐν, "in" and δῆμος, "people"), indigenous (from Latin indigenus, “in-born”) or native mosquito species.

Perhaps Magnum’s Death Is Only Temporary and A Kiss Before Dying respectively feature tiger and yellow fever mosquitoes as the two day-biting of six foreign species.
Physically and sexually mature females generate no more than four separate 50- to 150-egg batches not long after getting no more than four separate blood meals. Birdbaths, bottle caps, buckets, clogged drains, flowerpots, plant saucers, soda cans, tires and tree holes with at least 0.5-inch- (1.27-centimeter-) deep stagnant water hold single-laid eggs. Black or black-brown, oval, smooth, 0.019- to 0.039-inch- (0.5- to 1-millimeter-) long eggs inhabit artificial and natural water-holders, apart ditches and marshes, just above water lines.
Four-instar (from Latin instar, “form, likeness”) larval tiger mosquitoes journey vertically underwater for six to 10 days as bacteria- and debris-feeding, oxygen-breathing, short-siphon wigglers and wrigglers.

The bottom-feeding, surface-dwelling larvae keep to aquatic, organic diets of microscopic organisms and particles and know worm-like, 0.25-inch- (0.64-centimeter-) long bodies just before the pupal stage.
Larval stages last longer for female than male wigglers and wrigglers, particularly with cooler temperatures and launch pupal, third life-cycle stages as mobile, non-feeding, stimuli-responsive tumblers. Inhaled air makes their abdomens expand enough to move two- to four-day-old pupae (from Latin pūpa, "girl") out as 0.08- to 0.39-inch (2- to 10-millimeter) adults. Culicidae (from Latin culex, "gnat" and Greek -ειδής, "-like") family members named Aedes albopictus (from Latin aedēs, "tomb"; albus, “white”; pictus, “painted") scientifically net pointed-tip abdomens.
Tiger mosquitoes, observed scientifically by Frederick Arthur Askew Skuse (baptized June 17, 1866; died June 10, 1896) observe black to black-brown, white-marked heads, bodies and legs.

Black, black-brown legs and thoracic (from Greek θώραξ, "breastplate") sides and and abdominal uppersides respectively possess white-banded tarsi (from Greek ταρσός, "flat drying-frame") and white scales.
Both genders queue up a central white line along head and thoracic upper-sides, white-banded palpus (from Latin palpus, “feeler”) and white-scaled abdominal undersides and thoracic sides. Adult females versus males, smaller-sized by 20 percent, reveal blood-feeding, sharp-pointed fascicles (from fasciculus, "little bundle") and nectar-feeding mouthparts versus mouthparts restricted to juice- and nectar-feeding. All four life-cycle stages, since their spreads from their native southeast Asia, survive in subtropical and tropical sections year-round and in temperate sections during summer months.
Female tiger mosquitoes perhaps only terrorized Higgins and Magnum, without transmitting Chikungunya, dengue, yellow and Zika fever viruses through blood-meal transfusions from human ankles and elbows.

Maui’s Fishhook Manaiakalani Arrived After Magnum’s Farewell to Love

Summary: Maui’s Fishhook Manaiakalani arrived after Magnum’s Farewell to Love April 17, 2020, and perhaps thereby averted a sniper aggrieving another survivor.

Maui’s Fishhook Manaiakalani arrived after Magnum’s Farewell to Love crime action drama television series episode April 17, 2020, and, by assuring no romantic stargazing, perhaps thereby averted a sniper aggrieving another survivor.
Director Bronwen Hughes and writer Ashley Charbonnet base private investigator Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez) in a bus tour for Season Two’s 16th episode, series’ 36th overall. Robin’s Nest co-resident and majordomo (from Latin māior, “main” and domus, “household”) Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks) comes as cover story for Magnum checking client-communicated infidelity claims. Another romantic bus tour member, Bert (Tanner Gil), dies while Magnum determines whether Krista’s (Caitlin King) husband deems correctly that she dallies with Gil (Brian Guest).
Nobody else expires, perhaps because of the Ku’uipo (“my sweetheart”) tour schedule embracing daytime, secluded experiences and thereby enabling the undercover sniper to eliminate target errors.

Stargazers frequently favor Maui’s Fishhook Manaiakalani (from Hawaiian Mānaiakalani, from Hawaiian mana, “hook”; ia, “fish”; ka, “the”; and lani, "chief, heavens, king, queen, royal one, sky").
The Hawaiian creation chant Kumulipo (“beginning in deep darkness”) gives Mauiakalani as son of ‘Akalana and moon goddess Hina and brother of Mauikiikii, Mauimua and Mauiwaena. Mauiakalani, hailed as Maui (from Hawaiian Māui, perhaps “to live, to subsist,” perhaps from Arabic ﻣﺤﻲ [mohyi], “life-giver”), harbors huge powers to harvest the Hawaiian homeland. He induced his three older brothers to impel the family fishing canoe even faster, ever further through open waters as he immersed his impressive fishhook Manaiakalani.
Maui’s Fishhook Manaiakalani journeys during the Kau (summer-season) months from May through October across night skies over all eight main and all 10 northeastern Hawaiian islands.

Polynesian and Hawaiian astronomy know Scorpius the Scorpion constellation as constellation Manaiakalani, Maui's Fishhook: Torsten Bronger (Bronger), CC BY SA 3.0 Unported, via Wikimedia Commons

The ancient Hawaiian chief, culture hero, demi-god (from Latin semideus, “half-god”) and trickster kept a wing from the Hawaiian moorhen (alae’ula locally, Gallinula galeata sandvicensis scientifically).
He located it, as fish bait, lucky because loved by Hina, for the giant trevally (ulua aukea locally, Caranx ignobilis scientifically) Pimoe, on his lucky fishhook. He managed to manipulate his magical fishhook such that the ocean floor moved surfaceward, massing into the Hawaiian islands even as Pimoe moved forward and upward. Magical fishhook, mortal fish and mortal fisher nestled in the night skies where mainland Unitedstatesians note the constellation Scorpius (from Latin scorpiō, from Greek σκορπίος, “scorpion”).
Maui’s Fishhook Manaiakalani occurs after spring- and summer-observed star family, Kaiwikuamo’o (“The Backbone”), and before fall- and winter-observed star family, Kekāomakali’i (“The [Canoe] Bailer of Makali’i”).

Hawaiian navigation by night-sky objects places Maui’s Fishhook Manaiakalani in dark spaces in the Milky Way galaxy, the latter presented as I’a-lele-i-aka (“Fish Leaping in Shadows”).
Maui queuing the leaping, shadow fish Lehua (“fine-scattered”) among his fish catches queues the Hawaiian islands into the continent the latter always quested for Hawaiian peoples. The hook shank, from eye to curve, and the pointed tip respectively reveal Lehuakona (“red ‘ohi’a [tree] blossom and Ka Maka (“the eye”), Antares and Shaula. Royal-red Lehuakona and royal-white Ka Maka respectively slide across night skies 'aina-malanai (east-southeast) to 'aina-kona (west-southwest) and noio-malanai (southeast by east) and noio-kona (southwest by west).
Maui’s Fishhook Manaiakalani triggers tender, touching, trusting thoughts, perhaps tightening ties between stargazing couples, through its fisher always thinking of Hawaiian peoples thriving on Hawaiian islands.
