Arctic char opportunistically ingest spring-summer insects, lake-bottom crustaceans, salmon eggs, small fish one-third arctic-char size, snails and fall-winter shrimp, small fish, zooplankton ("animal-drifting"; Greek ζῷον πλαγκτόν).
