Akoko Hawaiian beach sandmat allows ties blooded as Magnum’s Bloodline crime action drama television series season finale May 7, 2021, among aspects applicable to, and affirming genetic affiliations with, other Hawaii-only associates.
Third-season 16th-episode director Avi Youabian and writers Eric Guggenheim and Geoffrey Thorne broach behavioral blends betraying or blurring blood bonds between like, otherwise unlike, Earth-bound beings. The series’ 56th episode overall and third finale since commencing Sept. 24, 2018, perhaps correlates iconically, symbolically with akoko Hawaiian beach sandmat in conveying conspicuous consanquinity. The Euphorbiaceae (from Latin euphorbea [from Greek Εὔφορβος, Greek physician to Juba II, reigned 30-25 BCE], “well-fed” and -āceae, “resembling”) spurge family member displays blood-like redness.
The Hawaii-exclusive spurge, entitled Euphorbia degeneri (for Otto [May 13, 1899-Jan. 16, 1988] and Isa [April 27, 1924-April 13, 2018] Degener) scientifically, exists alongside red-bleeding relatives.

The endemic (from Greek ἐν, “in” and δῆμος, “people”) and fellow Hawaii-flourishing arnottiana, celastroides, clusiifolia, eleanoriae, multiformis, olowaluana, remyi, rockii and skottsbergii species feature red-festooned seeds.
Flowering, foliating, fruiting, seeding subshrubs generally no greater than 2 feet (0.61 meters) wide, tall and spaced grow from coastal sea levels through 164.04-foot (50-meter) altitudes. They sometimes harbor ant, mealybug, scale and whitefly pests even though their red-harried seeds harvest no insect-hiding, lipid- and protein-housing, tip-hugging caruncles (from Latin caruncula, “wart”). Five-plus-year life cycles inspire sporadic and year-round fruiting of erect, fig-like capsules whose red intrusions imitate blood-dropped colors and patterns even as they inspire local identifications.
Traditional Hawaiian culture today joins ancient Hawaiian culture yesterday in judging akoko, ekoko, koko and kokomalei as judiciously blood-meaning local names for akoko Hawaiian beach sandmat.

Decumbent (from Latin dēcumbere, “to recline”), gnarled, prostrate (from Latin prōstrātus, “face-down”) foot- (0.31-meter-) long stems keep sides for foliage and tops for flowers and fruits.
Fragrant, green and green-white, inconspicuous, pungent flowers, labeled collectively as pseudanthium (from Greek ψευδής, “false” and ἄνθος, “flower”), locate many staminate flowers around one pistillate flower. Cup-modeled involucres (from Latin involūcrum, “covering”) merging modified leaves, monikered bracts, maintain pollen-producing staminate (from Latin stamen, “thread”) and pollen-receiving pistillate (from Latin pistillum, “pestle”) flowers. Asymmetrical, glabrous (from Latin glaber, “smooth” and -ōsus, “full of”), red-nuanced, thick leaves nestle into alternate niches along stem sides sun-nourished into branches nudging ever outward.
Akoko Hawaiian beach sandmat, observed by Earl Sherff (May 18, 1886-May 16, 1966), offers obscure, occasional to year-round flowers, fruits and seeds amid obvious, year-round foliage.

The Hawaii-produced, Hawaii-proliferating woody plant prompts respectively pollinating and problematic populations of anthricinan yellow-faced bees (nalo meli maoli locally, Hylaeus anthracinus) and rust fungi (Puccinia levata).
Kahoolawe (Kaho’olawe, from Hawaiian ka, “the”; ho’o, “causing”; lawe, “to carry away”) and Lanai (Lana’i, from Hawaiian lā, “day” and na’i, “to conquer”) quarter no sandmat. Accent, cement or clay or terracotta (from Latin terra, “earth” and cocta, “baked”) container and ground-cover roles require 1.97-inch (50-millimeter) annual average rainfall and well-drained surfaces. They suggest cinder, clay, coral, rubble, sand and soil drying out between small-dose supplemental watering schedules; and surviving even severe drought, heat, salt-spray and wind stresses.
Akoko Hawaiian beach sandmat transmits blooded ties through teaming blood-tinged capsules, leaves and seeds with blood-red clayey soil treatments that trigger triumphant transformations from tough times.
