Movies Move Me Around But TV Shows Make Me a Wallflower

Summary: There is more to see at the movies than just the movie because movie-goers go to movies but tv-watchers become couch potatoes and wallflowers.

Community, energy, immediacy, traditions and trends are reasons why I prefer movies to TV shows. Television shows entertain me when I have some time to relax on the sofa. They get my attention when I must be by myself because of a cold and need to vary silence with sounds while I recuperate.
Movies affirm what unites us as humans. We like to get together and share in groups. Going to the movies makes me appreciate not only the circle of family and friends with whom I move through life but also the wider community whose insights and interests overlap with my smaller group. In essence, movies move me!
The energy levels that I feel before, during and after going to the movies also attract and please me. It is a joyful exercise to get to, into and from the theater. I like the energetic experiences of getting ready, going out for a drink before and a meal after and traveling by bus, cab or car.
A movie's immediacy also energizes me. The movie informs me of current concerns, everyday events and modern interpretations. Additionally, my family, friends and I realize not only what our take is on everything but also how employees and other movie attendees feel.
Going to the movies further affirms for me the customs, rituals and traditions that make life both challenging and reassuring. It amazes me to think that I am part of a community whose movie-going predecessors go back almost 120 years! Showing movies in large rooms with comfortable seats, drink and food stands and public restrooms is an idea that works and an invention that succeeds!
Observing what others wear and overhearing what their before-movie and after-movie plans are likewise fascinate me. Some attendees consider movies as seriously as they do music concerts and theater performances. Others decide that sitting through a two-hour film demands the most casual and comfortable of attire. There also is the plethora of fashion statements and non-statements that are part and parcel of any and all films.
When I have time set aside for the television set, I generally can count upon staying within a narrow comfort zone since watching is my rare choice. When I opt to go to the movies, I can look forward to great learning fun since movie-going broadens my horizons about the people with whom I share space in the theater and time on the screen.
