Summary: ‘Imiloa August 2024 Sky Watch accepts two last-quarter moon phases, Thursday the 1st through Saturday the 3rd, Tuesday the 27th through Saturday the 31st.
"God talks to human beings through many vectors: through each other, through organized religion, through the great books of those religions, through wise people, through art and music and literature and poetry, but nowhere with such detail and grace and color and joy as through creation. When we destroy a species, when we destroy a special place, we're diminishing our capacity to sense the divine, understand who God is and what our own potential is." Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., April 19, 2023, Boston Park Plaza Hotel, Back Bay, Boston, Massachusetts.
“And there’s many people out there who want us to move to the next planet already and I’m like, hang on, let’s not give up on this planet yet," William, Prince of Wales, July 31, 2023, Sorted Food food truck, London, England, United Kingdom.
‘Imiloa August 2024 Sky Watch accepts two last-quarter moon phases, the first last-quarter from Thursday the 1st through Saturday the 3rd and the second from Sunday the 25th through Saturday the 31st.
‘Imiloa, through University of Hawaii, Hilo, Hawaii County (from Hawaiian ‘imi loa, “to search far”; hilo, “thread”; ha wai ‘i, “breath life-force supreme”) bears Hawaiian names. It configures English and Hawaiian equivalents for its months and its sky charts even as it calls moon phases by English-language new, first, full, last categories. Modern Hawaiian culture designates as mahina hapalua hope (from Hawaiian mahina hapa lua hope, “moon half double last”) the last-quarter moon doing double duty this month.
The last-quarter moon Saturday through Wednesday, July 27-31 extends to Friday through Sunday, Aug. 1-3 and exacts end-of-month, last full-week dates, Sunday through Saturday, Aug. 25-31.
Hilo weather forecasts cloudy-sunny skies Thursday-Friday, Aug. 1-2; cloudy-rainy skies Saturday, Aug. 3; sunny-skied Sunday through Wednesday, Aug. 25-28; cloudy-sunny skies Friday through Saturday, Aug. 29-31.
Modern Hawaiian culture generates mahina hou (from Hawaiian mahina hou, “moon fresh, new, recent”) as its equivalent of the English-language lunar phase given as new moon. Evenings 8:00 p.m. Hawaii-Aleutian (4:00 Chamorro, 7:00 Samoa, 10:00 Alaska, 11:00 Pacific, midnight Mountain, 1:00 next-day Central, 2:00 Eastern, 2:00 Atlantic) Time onward house new-moon phases. Hilo weather Sunday the 4th, Monday through Friday the 5th-the 9th, Saturday the 10th, Sunday the 11th perhaps nightly introduces respectively cloudy, cloudy-sunny, cloudy-rainy-sunny, cloudy-rainy daytimes.
‘Imiloa August 2024 Sky Watch jubilates cloudless sunlight, perhaps cloudless moonlight once during the full-moon phase, four times during the second of two last-quarter moon phases.
Modern Hawaiian culture knows as its equivalent lunar phase of the first-quarter moon mahina hapalua mua (from Hawaiian mahina hapa lua mua, “moon half double first”).
Evening and night skies log the first-quarter moon phase from Monday through Sunday, Aug. 12-18, during which dates weather forecasts link to perhaps less lively moon-looking. Monday the 12th, Tuesday-Wednesday the 13th-the 14th and Saturday through Sunday the 17th-the 18th, Thursday through Friday the 15th-the 16th respectively muster cloudy-rainy, cloudy-rainy-sunny, cloudy-sunny skies. Perhaps cloudy, sunless Sunday the 4th, cloudy-rainy sunless Saturday through Monday the 10th-the 12th, Friday the 23rd nurtured cloudy, moonless evenings and nights on those dates.
‘Imiloa August 2024 Sky Watch orients moon-phase observers to the second occurrence of two last-quarter moon phases for optimum moon-gazing its first four evenings and nights.
Modern Hawaiian culture presents mahina piha and mahina poepoe (from Hawaiian mahina piha, “moon full”; mahina poepoe, “moon round”) as its equivalent of the full moon.
Monday the 19th through Saturday the 24th qualify as the consecutive weekdays queuing evenings and nights, moon-rising sunset to moon-setting sunrise, of the August full moon. Monday through Tuesday the 19th-the 20th, Wednesday the 21st and Saturday the 24th, Thursday the 22nd, Friday the 23rd realize respectively cloudy-rainy-sunny, cloudy-sunny, sunny, cloudy-rainy skies. Perhaps daylong rainy cloudiness, perhaps daylong sunniness respectively suggest more and less successful moon-shining the subsequent evenings and nights Thursday the 22nd and Friday the 23rd.
‘Imiloa August 2024 Sky Watch teams one new moon, one first-quarter, one full moon, two last-quarter moon phases with evening- and night-lighting constellation, galaxy, star lines.
