Bakerhaven Arrivals Are by Car in The Puzzle Lady vs The Sudoku Lady

Summary: Bakerhaven arrivals are by car in The Puzzle Lady vs The Sudoku Lady, 11th mystery in the Puzzle Lady series authored by Parnell Hall.

The Japanese sudoku lady, Minami, accesses Bakerhaven in a rented black sedan driven by her 16-year-old niece, Michiko. Michiko admires modern accoutrements, such as low-cut, tight tops to low-rise, tight jeans even as her aunt adores ancienter appearances, such as a silk kimono (from Japanese 着物, "clothing"). Perhaps Michiko appreciates a low-rise kimono equivalent of a low-rise sari (from Sanskrit शाट, "cloth strip" via Sanskrit शाटी, "[female] garment"); image of Sherlyn Chopra in low-rise sari at Playboy press meet Monday, July 23, 2012, in Mumbai, western coastal Maharashtra state, west central India: Bollywood Hungama, CC BY 3.0 Unported, via Wikimedia Commons

Bakerhaven arrivals are by car drivers and passengers in The Puzzle Lady vs The Sudoku Lady, 11th mystery in the Puzzle Lady series authored by Parnell Hall (Oct. 31, 1934-Dec. 15, 2020).
Sixteen-year-old Michiko (from Japanese 美智子, “beautiful, wise child”) and her aunt, sudoku (from Japanese 数独, “numbers singly”) lady Minami (from Japanese 南, “south”) become temporary Bakerhavenites. They come, by undivulged air or sea routes, from some unnamed city in the Japanese archipelago to some city, perhaps New York, in the United States. They drive from some airport or some bus or train station since fictitious, inland, small-town Bakerhaven never developed its own air, bus, cab, train, waterway services.
Small-town Bakerhaven entertains brief and extended experiences through lodging in a bed and breakfast or a motel unit or renting an entire house or single rooms.

Michiko and Minami favor one unit at Nutmeg Motel, whose manager furnishes them with a blackmail message that neither he nor they forward to Bakerhaven police.
Kingston Road guards Nutmeg Motel and the green-shuttered, white-frame two-story where Ida Fielding gasped her last breaths after husband Jason gallivanted to Benny’s and Rainbow Room. Habits honed from hounding crime scenes from her home in the Japanese archipelago head Minami to the tree-lined edges of east, north, south or west Bakerhaven. Sheila Preston inhaled her last breaths in her and husband Steve’s white-frame two-story at 146 Elm Street after the latter itinerated to his Manhattan-based, unidentified job.
Many, perhaps all, Bakerhavenites, like Bakerhaven arrivals such as Michiko and Minami from somewhere else, journey by car in The Puzzle Lady vs The Sudoku Lady.

Michiko and Minami keep away from cruciverbalist (from Latin crux, “cross” and verbum, “word”) Harvey Beerbaum’s Louis XIV- (Sep. 5, 1638-Sep. 1, 1715), IKEA-, gingerbread-kindled house.
The two latest Bakerhaven arrivals locate Bakerhaven mall, which lets Michiko look at Gap clothes that she, not Minami, likes and which lodges a pay phone. They perhaps never maneuver through the Walmart store in Bakerhaven mall, which perhaps maintains a Kmart store that they perhaps manage to miss during shopping missions. And yet they note Country Kitchen bar and restaurant near Bakerhaven mall even as they perhaps never notice Mary Cushman’s Bake Shop near Bakerhaven Police Station.
Their rental car, a black sedan, offers Bakerhaven arrivals opportune observations of Rite Aid drugstore and Virgin Megastore in The Puzzle Lady vs The Sudoku Lady.

Michiko pursues Pink CDs and Dennis Pride, puzzle lady Cora Felton’s ex-nephew-in-law in Bakerhaven from Westport 45 minutes away, even as Minami purchases drugstore-counter, headache-palliating Advil.
Dennis, unlike Michiko and Minami, quests Thelma Wilson, neighbor on Elm Street opposite the Preston residence and neighbor between a Danbury employee and a deaf 92-year-old. First wife Sherry Carter Grant’s restraining order requires Dennis to respect a minimum 100-yard (91.44-meter) distance from her, her Carter/Felton/Grant family residence and perhaps her car. Cora, who sublets her New York apartment, solves all crimes there before Cora’s nephew-in-law and Sherry’s second husband Aaron suggests a two-story Carter/Grant addition with basement.
Perhaps Aaron, Cora and Sherry in The Puzzle Lady vs The Sudoku Lady think of treating Bakerhaven arrivals by car to a spaciouser prefab’s guest bedrooms.

Crossword and number puzzles act together for joint clues in The Puzzle Lady vs The Sudoku Lady. Some automobile historians ascribe the first sedan, as the first roofed car, to the 1899 Renault Voiturette Type B, with a two-seat interior and a one-seat exterior to accommodate an accompanying footman or mechanic, even as other car historians associate the first sedan, as the first fixed-roof car with a four-seat minimum, to the 1911 Speedwell. Two hypothetical puzzles assist in answering the argument by the crossword asking for a five-letter word for a fixed-roof car and the sudoku assigning the numbers 1899 for Renault and 1911 for Speedwell or telephone keypad numbers 7362858 for Renault and 773339355 for Speedwell: Public Domain, via Wikimedia Commons
