Prosper Insights & Analytics interprets and predicts consumer attitudes and trends via a sophisticated, cloud-based platform and fields daily and monthly surveys in the United States and China.
Its parent, holding company is Worthington, Ohio-based Prosper Business Development (PBD), a business acceleration and venture development corporation founded Nov. 30, 1990. PBD focuses on the actionable impact of consumer attitudes, behaviors, and lifestyles upon the retail industry.
The ninth annual consumer survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics reveals the top three of the 50 favorite online retailers in 2015. Amazon claims first place. Walmart holds second place. Best Buy is in third place.
Amazon offers online shopping for electronics, apparel, computers, books, DVDs and so much more.
Attractive to Boomers (born 1946 to 1964) as well as Millennials (born 1980 to 1995), Seattle, Washington-based Amazon thrives on customer loyalty. As the e-commerce (electronic commerce) giant, Amazon takes risks in pursuit of attracting and satisfying customers.
Consumers are drawn to innovations, even with mixed reviews, such as Prime Day in July, a one-day global shopping extravaganza on July 15, 2015, in celebration of Amazon’s 20 years of trailblazing internet retailing.
Shoppers exhibit a direct connection with Amazon by logging in to have a look-see and to keep current on Amazon’s ever-expanding offerings.
Reading articles also triggers visits as shoppers search for products directly and associatively related to article contents.
Walmart's slogan tells customers: "Save money. Live better."
Not content to rest on laurels as top bricks-and-mortar retailer, Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart strives to conquer the exciting arena of online shopping.
Prosper Insights & Analytics’ survey discovered that coupons largely direct visits by shoppers to Walmart’s website.
Best Buy's slogan promises customers: "Expert service. Unbeatable price."
In third place, Richfield, Minnesota-based Best Buy aims to increase stature as an international consumer electronics giant via both face-to-face and virtual shopping.
Cable TV ads serve as a main lure for online visits to Best Buy.
Best Buy shoppers are viewed as the most mobile-savvy and are drawn to the retailer’s price-matching focus.
Pam Goodfellow, Consumer Insights Director at Prosper Insights & Analytics, assesses the trend of online wins by big retailers as reflecting the security of name recognition.
