Ponderosa Pine Trees for When a Hawaii Five-0 2010 House Is Dark

Summary: The setting sun over Ponderosa pine trees provides permanent peace on Hawaii Five-0 2010 episode Pio Ke Kukui, Po'ele Ka Hale 77 years after Pearl Harbor.

Ponderosa pines accommodate admirers of high-altitude Montana's setting sun in the Hawaii Five-0 2010 active police procedural drama series episode When the Light Goes Out, the House Is Dark Dec. 7, 2018.
Director Gabriel Beristain and writer Paul Grellong bring a Hawaii-based battle to mainland United States on the 77th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Season 9's 10th episode, series' 203rd overall, continues the Cocoon episode Sept. 28, 2018, concerning Hawaii Five-0 task force Commander Steve McGarrett's (Alex O'Loughlin) covert past. Agent Greer (Rochelle Aytes) divulges to Omar Hassan (Christian Rockford) all six covert operatives in the Marrakesh, Morocco, mission against his terrorist father Kamal in 2002.
Tim Cole (Brad Beyer), Steve and Joe White (Terry O'Quinn) engage elimination-round enemies at an off-the-grid red-sided cabin near one of Joe's favorite Ponderosa pine trees.

Three-hundred-plus-year life cycles furnish mature Ponderosa pine trees with brown, single-winged, 0.25- to 0.29-inch- (6.3- to 7.6-millimeter-) long, 0.16- to 0.19-inch- (4.1- to 4.9-millimeter-) wide seeds.
White-brown 0.65- to 0.98-inch- (16.6- to 24.8-millimeter-) long wings get one-plus-year-old seeds wind-dispersed 298.56-foot (91-meter) distances from parent Ponderosa pines in soil pHs 5 to 9. Seventy-percent viable seeds head out as pollinated, fertilized egg cells on the woody scales of the female cones on female- and male-gendered parent Ponderosa pine trees. The Pinaceae (from Latin pīnus, "pine tree" and -āceae, "resembling") family member issues springtime yellow pollen from less than 1-inch- (2.54-centimeter-) long and wide male cones.
Monoecious (from Greek μόνος, mónos, "only" and οἰκία, oikía, "[female and male parts in tree] house") Ponderosa pine trees juggle female pollen-receiving and male pollen-producing cones.

The 2.78- to 3.99-inch- (70.7- to 101.4-millimeter-) long, 2.42- to 3.04-inch- (61.5- to 77.1-millimeter-) wide female cones keep high-profile presences amid Ponderosa pine tree branch needles.
The heavy-wooded hard pine group member lodges, as leafy equivalents, green 4.41- to 7.79-inch- (11.2- to 19.8-centimeter-) long, 17.64- to 19.57-inch- (44.8- to 49.7-centimeter-) thick needles. The conifer group relative of North American firs, larches and spruces, as woody reproducers from pollinated and seeded cones, manages evergreen bundles of three needles each. Ponderosa pine trees, named by David Douglas (June 25, 1799-July 12, 1834) and Charles Lawson (Aug. 9, 1794-Dec. 21, 1873), net black-brown young, orange-red-yellow mature bark.
Ponderosa pine trees organize woody roots into overspreading systems two to three times the mature heights of semi-tapering, straight trunks with high crowns and horizontal branches.

Mature Ponderosas present 1.97- to 6.56-plus-foot (0.6- to 2-plus-meter) diameters at 4.5-foot (1.37-meter) breast heights above trunk bases and 25- to 30-foot (7.62- to 9.14-meter) spreads.
Mature Ponderosa pine trees queue up 62.34- to 229.66-plus-foot (19- to 70-plus-meter) heights at 4,000 to 9,000-foot (1,219.2- to 2,743.2-meter) North American altitudes above sea levels. They require average annual 11.02- to 23.62-inch (280- to 600-millimeter) rainfall and yearly average temperatures between 41 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit (5 and 10 degrees Celsius). They share western distribution ranges with low-altitude digger and Monterey pines; mid-altitude sugar and western white pines; high-altitude lodgepole pines; highest-altitude bristlecone, limber and whitebark pines.
Japan's rising sun turned Pearl Harbor into four-year-long mainland United States trauma just as 16-year-old troubles take Joe and Steve from Honolulu to Montana's setting sun.
