Perhaps Aaron’s Bakerhaven Gazette earnings, definitely crossword and sudoku puzzle books, daily crossword columns and Granville Grains advertisements enable house-expanding expenditures by Cora and niece Sherry.

Monthly $1,243 alimony from latest ex-husband Melvin Crabtree, whose lawyer, Lennie Fleckstein, of Fleckstein and Stone law firm foments annulment proceedings, furnish Cora Carter/Felton/Grant household-expense funds.

Number puzzle lady Cora Felton, believing herself five pounds lighter and $10,000 richer by an estate check, buys beautiful, bounteous, bracing chocolates from Bakerhaven Candy Store. Consuming healthy comestibles configured by housemate and niece, Sherry Carter Grant, less chew food at choice Bakerhaven eateries and no alcohol causes the current weight loss. Cora daily delighted in caffeinated and decaffeinated coffees done by Sherry at the Carter/Felton/Grant domicile, with nephew-in-law Aaron Grant and caffeinated coffees and coffee drinks elsewhere.

Attorney Becky Baldwin and defendant Cora enjoy one latte and one frappuccino (from French frappé, “milkshake” and Italian cappuccino, “brown-red [Capuchin monk hoodlet]”) at Bakerhaven mall.

Neither Becky, with skim caffè latte (from Arabic قَهْوَة, via Italian caffè, “coffee” and Latin lac, via Italian latte, “milk”), nor Cora feast upon Starbucks scones.

Bakerhaven Police Chief Dale Harper still gets Mary Cushman’s Bake Shop-brewed coffee and the latter’s Silver Moon Bakery-imported scones, which Roger Randolph perhaps, perhaps not gets. Perhaps Roger, as loan officer and transaction manager at First National Bank, never has his coffee breaks there and instead heads over to Cushman’s Bake Shop. He itinerates to Bakerhaven mall for light beer from Stop & Shop and such groceries as canned and dry goods, milk (for coffee?) and orange juice.

Perhaps Sherry alone never journeys to Bakerhaven eateries in The KenKen Killings, during which even Evelyn Anne Miller Crabtree journeys from Oakwood Motel for Cushman breakfasts.

Cora keeps away from Mary Cushman’s so as not to knuckle under to blueberry muffins or cranberry scones, about which Melvin Crabtree’s eighth wife perhaps knows.

Lennie Fleckstein, Chester T. Markowitz estate conservator at Fleckstein and Stone law firm, leaves his house with coffee perhaps lacking freshness, perhaps left by wife Emma. Perhaps he makes no coffee in his minimalist office and manages without Cushman- and Starbucks-made coffees but meets Becky for a working lunch at Country Kitchen. Lennie nourishes himself with a grilled cheese and ham sandwich, French fries and an unnamed beer in perhaps a 16.91- to 33.81-ounce (0.5- to 1.0-liter) stein.

Perhaps Bakerhaven eateries never occur to Sherry alone as she offers Aaron pork roast with sauce and Cora broccoli, rice and salmon in The KenKen Killings.

Becky prefers vinaigrette-pampered field-greens salad and sugarless iced tea for Country Kitchen lunch with Lennie over pepperoni pizza from the side-street pizza parlor below her office.

Perhaps Lily Clemson, First National Bank teller, and Melvin quested something Becky-like fresh for the former, something Lennie-like greasy for the latter during Country Kitchen dinner. Cora perhaps refrained from the home-brewed, lunchtime coffee with which Aaron and Sherry restored their unexpected visitor, Melvin’s girlfriend Bambi, from relative tipsiness to reasonable sobriety. She selects Diet Coke with lemon twist no matter whether fellow players seek something super-alcoholic or something super-caffeinated during bridge games at Country Kitchen Thursday evenings.

Perhaps Sherry alone toasts her first pregnancy with ginger ale, not champagne, at home with Aaron and Cora, not at Bakerhaven eateries, in The KenKen Killings.

Cora attempts not to allow herself Cushman muffins and scones, of which she adores the former as blueberry and the latter as cranberry. His Fleckstein and Stone law firm defends the Chester T. Markowitz estate from atop Walgreens in Great Neck village, North Hempstead town, Nassau County, New York.

A trial examining alimony amounts allocated by Melvin Crabtree to Cora entails Lennie, as annulment and divorce lawyer, Melvin and Melvin’s girlfriend Bambi enjoying Bakerhaven cuisine.

Four Seasons Motel, Oakwood Motel and Pine Ridge Motel furnish temporary lodgings to Connecticut travelers and to such town visitors as trial lawyers and their plaintiffs.

Lennie perhaps goes back to wife Emma every evening even as Bambi and Melvin get room 105 in Oakwood Motel, where Evelyn Crabtree guards a room.
