Arctic Thaw Awaits Greenland Sharks in Ocean by Miezan van Zyl

Summary: Arctic thaw awaits Greenland sharks in Ocean: The Definitive Visual Guide new edition by Senior Editor Miezan van Zyl for DK Publishing, Apr 28, 2022.

"God talks to human beings through many vectors: through each other, through organized religion, through the great books of those religions, through wise people, through art and music and literature and poetry, but nowhere with such detail and grace and color and joy as through creation. When we destroy a species, when we destroy a special place, we're diminishing our capacity to sense the divine, understand who God is and what our own potential is." Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., April 19, 2023, Boston Park Plaza Hotel, Back Bay, Boston, Massachusetts.

“And there’s many people out there who want us to move to the next planet already and I’m like, hang on, let’s not give up on this planet yet," William, Prince of Wales, July 31, 2023, Sorted Food food truck, London, England, United Kingdom.

Arctic thaw awaits Greenland sharks in Ocean: The Definitive Visual Guide new edition by Senior Editor Miezan van Zyl for DK Publishing, Thurs., Apr 28, 2022, even as it affects deep-ocean abodes.
Greenland sharks bide in coastal waters along northeastern Canada, northeastern United States, Russian Europe continentally, Scandinavian Europe; around Faroe, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Russian Eruope; insularly, Svalbard. The afore-considered member of the shark genus Somniosus and the shark species microcephalus ("drowsy/sleepy [abnormally-]small-head," Latin somniōsus, Greek μῑκροκέφᾰλος), as Somniosus microcephalus scientifically, taxonomically circulates natively. Greenland sharks domicile oceanographically in the North Atlantic and in the northwest Arctic even as they dwell taxonomically in the order Squaliformes ("shark-contoured/-figured/-shaped," Latin squalus -fōrmēs).
Ice holes where seal prey elect to sleep and where such land animals as reindeer expire entice Greenland sharks even as shark enthusiasts extract them there.

Greenland sharks figure anywhere from surface waters downward into cold, dark ocean depths even as they fit statistically between zero and 8,694 feet (2,850 meters) down.
Page 326 groups Greenland sharks with animals whose diets guard hunting fresh live fish, sea birds, seals and those whom their scavenging guides to drowned reindeer. Pages 412-418 hail as area cetaceans (huge-fish/sea-monster," Latin cētus, Greek κῆτος) beluga, blue, bottlenose, bowhead, humpback, killer, long-finned pilot, minke, right, sperm whales therefore Greenland-shark harvestible. They include among area cetaceans bottlenose and short-beaked dolphins, harbor porpoises, narwhals even as pages 403-407 involve common, gray, harp, ringed seals, walruses, therefore Greenland-shark ingestible.
Arctic thaw jeopardizes Greenland sharks in Ocean by Miezan van Zyl even as it jeopardizes, among area fishes pages 344-367, angler, capelin, char, herring, roughy, salmon.

Pages 378-399 know as area avian populations, sea birds diver, eider, dunlin, gannet, geese, gulls, merganser, murre, osprey, oystercatcher, petrel, phalarope, plover, shearwater, skua turnstone, whimbrel.
Pages 400-402 list such area animals, such area mammals as polar bears even as page 326 logs such land animals as reindeer, both therefore Greenland-shark lunchable. Brown- to gray-, cylindrical-bodied, round-, short-snouted Greenland sharks maintain two same-sized dorsal ("[the-body's-]back's," Latin dorsālis [dorsum -ālis]) fins even as Greenland-shark manifestations anonymously manage dark depths. Slow-navigating Greenland sharks net total-length maximums at 21-plus feet (6.4-plus meters) even as they number as perhaps longest-lived, slowest-growing vertebrate ("joint-ed," Latin vertebrātus) [vertebra -ātus]) worldwide.
Arctic thaw perhaps operates against Greenland sharks in Ocean by Miezan van Zyl even as carbon dating occasions lifespan expectancies at minimally 260, maximally 500, years.

Greenland sharks possess a poisonous protection in their flesh even as such a poison prevents no predation by shark pursuers who prioritize them as preferred protein.
Cooking quits flesh-quartered poisons from Greenland sharks of all ages even as physical and sexual maturity quantifies such adult bodies minimally at 1,710 pounds (775 kilograms). Remedying poisonous flesh results from Greenland sharks as bycatch and target overfishing even as Arctic thaw, climate change and global warming require Greenland sharks reinventing themselves. Arctic thaw, climate change and global warming suggest glaciers, ice sheets and icebergs shrinking even as such shrinkage switches saltless sites below, salty sides above, freezing.
Arctic thaw in Ocean by Miezan van Zyl triumphs against Greenland sharks through terminating traditional diets and habitats even as Greenland sharks triumph through transforming themselves.

Death at the Sanatorium Acclaims Philo Vance by S. S. Van Dine

Summary: Death at the Sanatorium by copyright lawyer, copyright-law professor, poet, prosist Ragnar Jónasson acclaims Philo Vance by S. S. Van Dine.

In 1926, S. S. Van Dine, pen name of American art critic Willard Huntington Wright (Oct. 15, 1888-April 11, 1939), debuted Philo Vance in The Benson Murder Case, the first of 12 murder mystery novels devoted to the fictional amateur detective; the sixth installment, The Kennel Murder Case, in 1933; portrait of Philo Vance by American commercial artist E.M. (Elbert McGran) Jackson (Dec. 24, 1896-March 25, 1963) for "The Kennel Murder Case Part III" in Cosmopolitan magazine (Hearst's International Combined With Cosmopolitan), vol. XLIV no. 1 (January 1933), page 43: Public Domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Death at the Sanatorium, Anglicized by Victoria Cribb from the Icelandic Hvítidauði ("White Death" literally) by copyright lawyer, copyright-law professor, poet, prosist Ragnar Jónasson acclaims Philo Vance by S. S. Van Dine.
Annie Van Vranken Wright (Monday, Ocr. 15, 1888-Tuesday, Apr 11, 1939) bore Willard Huntington Wright in Charlottesville, Virginia, even as Archibald Davenport Wright based them elsewhere. She called their second child Stanton (Tuesday, Jul 8, 1890-Wednesday, Aug. 22, 1973) for women's-rights activist Elizabeth Cady Stanton (Sunday, Nov. 12, 1815-Sunday, Oct. 26, 1902). Wright, pseudonymed S. S. Van Dine for his detective fiction about Philo Vance, domiciled in Santa Monica, California, where his father developed professionally as hotel owner.
Wright entered, without graduating, St. Vincent College, now Loyola Marymount University, of Los Angeles, California; Pomona College of Claremont, California; and Harvard University of Boston, Massachusetts.

Wright fathered one child, Beverley, with his first wife (Saturday, Jul 13, 1907-Friday, Oct. 24, 1930), Katharine Belle Boynton (Thursday, Nov. 27, 1879-Sunday, Oct. 26, 1958).
Twenty-one-year-old Wright got into professional writing as editor of the Los Angeles Times (1909-1911) and as New York literary magazine editor of The Smart Set (1912-1914). He headed to Munich, Germany (June 1913), then to Paris, France (Oct. 1913), from which he honed Impressionism to Synchronism for New York magazine December 1913. Younger brother Stanton Macdonald-Wright and Synchronism co-founder Morgan Russell (Monday, Jan. 25, 1886-Friday, May 29, 1953) involved their Synchronist paintings in abstract-art exhibitions there that year.
Death at the Sanatorium jubilates Wright journeying into Golden-Age detective fiction as S. S. Van Dine, Wright pseudonym and Dr. Watson-like character to main-character Philo Vance.

Terminally-ill Henrietta Knapp Hovey (Friday, Apr 6, 1849-Saturday, Mar 16, 1918) kept Wright biographizing Richard Hovey (Wednesday, May 4, 1864-Saturday, Feb. 24, 1900) from 1914-releaseable publication.
The year 1915 launched What Nietzsche Taught about German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (Tuesday, Oct. 15, 1844-Saturday, Aug. 25, 1900) and Modern Painting: Its Tendency and Meaning. Wright, pseudonymed Albert Otis, managed short-story mysteries for Pearson's Magazine (January-August 1916) even as his 1917-released book Misinforming a Nation militated against Encyclopædia Britannica Eleventh Edition. He noted detective-fiction critical studies in the 1927-released The World's Great Detective Stories and the 1928-released Twenty Rules for Writing Detective Stories in The American Magazine.
Philo Vance by S. S. Van Dine orients Helgi Reykdal's (Old Norse hailaga, "holy"; reykr, "smoky"; dal, "bay/valley") investigative opinions in Death at the Sanatorium.

Amateur-detective Vance pursues The Benson (1926), The Canary (1927), The Greene (1928), The Bishop (1929), The Scarab (1930), The Kennel (1933), The Dragon (1933) murder cases.
Aristocratic archer, chess-player, fencer, poker-player, polo-player Vance quests The Casino (1934), The Garden (1935), The Kidnap (1936), The Gracie Allen (1938), The Winter (1939) murder cases. He, butler/majordomo/specialty-cook/valet Currie, Medical Examiner Emanuel Doremus, Homicide Bureau Sergeant Ernest Heath, District Attorney John Markham, financial/legal advisor Van Dine resolve them. Case 12 solos Markham, Van Dine and anthropology-, biology-, classical music-, crime history-, languages-, Egyptology-, Greece-ology-, literature-, Oriental arts-, politico-economy-, religious history-, Renaissance art-, tapestries-savvy Vance.
Death at the Sanatorium treasures fair-playing, Golden Age-sleuthing, good-looking, gray-eyed, philosophical, psychological, thoroughbred dog-breeding, dog-exhibiting decorated world-war veteran, marksman Philo Vance by S. S. Van Dine.

American murder mystery novelist S. S. Van Dine (pen name of American art critic Willard Huntington Wright; Oct. 15, 1988-April 11, 1939) published The Greene Murder Case in 1928 as the third of 12 mysteries featuring fictional amateur detection Philo Vance; "The Greene mansion, New York, as it appeared at the time of the notorious Greene murder case. From an old woodcut by Lowell L. Balcom." in S. S. Van Dine, The Green Murder Case (MCMXXVIII [1928]), frontispiece: Public Domain (as of Jan. 1, 2024), via Internet Archive
