Overkilling Afflicts Greenland Sharks in Shark by Dr Miranda Macquitty

Summary: Overkilling as bycatch, as nontarget nuisance-species fish or as target useful-species fish afflicts Greenland sharks in Shark by Dr Miranda Macquitty.

"God talks to human beings through many vectors: through each other, through organized religion, through the great books of those religions, through wise people, through art and music and literature and poetry, but nowhere with such detail and grace and color and joy as through creation. When we destroy a species, when we destroy a special place, we're diminishing our capacity to sense the divine, understand who God is and what our own potential is." Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., April 19, 2023, Boston Park Plaza Hotel, Back Bay, Boston, Massachusetts.

“And there’s many people out there who want us to move to the next planet already and I’m like, hang on, let’s not give up on this planet yet," William, Prince of Wales, July 31, 2023, Sorted Food food truck, London, England, United Kingdom.

Overkilling as bycatch, as nontarget nuisance-species or target useful-species fish afflicts Greenland sharks of glacial waters in the Arctic Ocean, temperate waters in the North Atlantic, in Shark by Dr Miranda Macquitty.
The juvenile book for ages 9 through 12, grades 4 through 7 bares overkilling by killing bycatch and nontarget fishes branded nuisances and overfishing target fishes. Overkilling concerns shark species whose capture considers their practicality and profitability in such commerce as cosmetics and creams and shark species whose catching criticizes their conduct. Practical and profitable defenses for dead Greenland sharks defer to the diverse oils in their livers even as their dismissal describes their damage to underwater equipment.
The 2022 edition of the 1992-, 2002-, 2008-, 2014-, 2022-copyrighted Macquitty book evokes lipstick cosmetics and moisturizing skin-care creams from the essential oils in Greenland-shark livers.

The Macquitty book features as edible food from Greenland-shark flesh the fermented-, dried-meat dish hákarl (Old Norse hár karl, "dogfish/shark man") from Viking-settled Greenland and Iceland.
Dr. Macquitty gives as among edible-fleshed sharks in the 21st-century Greenlandic cuisine dogfishes and porbeagles even as only 21st-century Iceland guards in its cuisine Greenland sharks. The below-housed bibliography hails hákarl as homey chunks, like Unitedstatesian cheese cubes, hurried digestively with the Icelandic schnapps brennivín (Old Norse brenna, "burn"; Latin vínum, "wine"). The below-included bibliography identifies west-Greenland Inuit communities as ingesting spiny-dogfish shark flesh baked and roasted even as east-Greenland Inuit communities ingested Greenland-shark flesh after innumerous boiling.
Shark by Dr. Miranda Macquitty judges shark-species overkilling jeopardizing Greenland-shark populations and such Greenland-shark products as boiled Greenland-shark flesh jubilated with boiled-broth, herbal-tea, melted-ice, melted-snow drinks.

Greenland sharks traditionally kindle such tools and weapons as wooden knives with Greenland-shark skin handles and teeth cutting edges, the latter perfect for Greenland-shark flesh-, meat-cutting.
Dr, Macquitty lists shark meat as what lures 21st-century fishers even as historically "almost every part of a shark's body" (Macquitty:60) looms practically and profitably. Macquitty-book images (Macquitty:46-47, 60-61) manifest shark-product cream, jewelry, pills, sheaths, shoes, soup, teeth, trophy jaws even as hákarl and liver-oil lýsi ("light") matter most to Icelanders. Greenland sharks number among fishing-net and long-line bycatch with Greenland-summering turbot flatfishes and as target fish for afore-noted products even as they never notice water netting.
Shark by Dr. Miranda Macquitty offers the pink-white image (Macquitty:27) of the parasitic copepod (Greek κώπη, "handle"; ποδός, "foot/leg") whose vision-obstructing obliges those overkilling Greenland sharks.

The bibliography provided below profiles the afore-presented copepod as scientifically, taxonomically Ommatokoita elongata (Greek ὄμμᾰ κοίτα, "eye look/peek"; Latin ēlongāta, "aloof/departed/elongated/prolonged/protracted/removed/stretched/withdrawn"), with 11.35-inch (31-millimeter) mature lengths.
The Macquitty-book image queues a cornea-attaching anchor to an arm to a head to a trunk to an egg sac quartering "thousands of eggs" (Macquitty:27). Dr. Julius Nielson of the University of Copenhagen in Denmark realized the accurate, 400-year-old life-expectant aging of a Greenland shark through the latter's onionlike-layered eye lens. The afore-said life expectancy shortens or stretches even as Greenland sharks, near- or total-blinded by the afore-stated copepod, survive with other senses superceding when vision stumbles.
Overkilling troubles Dr. Miranda Macquitty in Shark even as Greenland sharks travel slowly through threatening water trails for 150 years afore transmitting their first 10-pup litters.
